Education. My college.

People in our country have the right for education. It is our Constitutional right. Every boy and every girl in Belarus must go to school. So, when they are 6 or 7 years old they begin to go to school. There are thousands of schools in Belarus. There are schools of general education where pupils study Belarussian (a native language), Literature, Mathematics, History, Biology, Music, Arts and Foreign languages.

After finishing 9 classes of secondary school young people can continue their education at different kinds of colleges. They not only learn general subjects, but receive a speciality there.

As for me, I am a student of the Soligorsk State College now. I entered this educational establishment after school. My college is one of those ordinary colleges that you would see in quite a number of small towns. I mean the building first of all. It is a three storied building rather plain from outside but more attractive inside. There are many classrooms, workshops, some libraries, gymnasiums, canteens and some assemble halls. The classrooms are light and spacious. There are special classrooms for Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, English and Russian. The students learn general and special subjects. The students study nearly three years. They get a working trade and a complete secondary education.

There are three departments in our college: Pedagogical, Building and Polytechnic. After finishing the college the students will work as housepainters, bricklayers, concrete layers, carpenters, roofers, plasterers, joiners, welders, plumbers, fitters, turners, etc. Every profession is good in its own way and respected in our country. I think I’ll be a good specialist.

When I think about my college I don’t remember its walls and desks, it is my teachers and college – mates who will be always with me. I am thankful to our teachers for what they have done for us.
