ВНЕКЛАССНОЕ МЕРОПРИЯТИЕ


Предмет: иностранный язык (английский).

Целевая аудитория: 6-11 классы.

Тема: London Sightseeing Tour

Цель: познакомить с основными достопримечательностями столицы и культурным наследием страны изучаемого языка; формировать коммуникативную, социо-культурную и информационную компетентности учащихся; развивать навыки аудирования и говорения (монологическую и диалогическую речь); расширить лексический запас по теме «Лондон», «Путешествие» и кругозор учащихся; повысить уровень культуры общения; воспитывать уважительное отношение к историко-культурным традициям страны изучаемого языка, толерантность, а также способствовать повышению мотивации к изучению иностранного языка, самооценки и познавательного интереса учащихся.

Оборудование: бейджики, билеты, смайлики настроения, нарисованный традиционный красный дабл-декер, государственный флаг Великобритании (прикреплены на стене), ноутбук, экран, мультимедийный проектор, презентация в Power Point, аудиозаписи музыкального и фонового сопровождения, видеоролики «Лондонская экскурсия по маршруту 26-го автобуса» и “Ahmad Tea TV” (реклама чая), костюм девушки-пирата, меню из кафе, сувениры из Великобритании, сувенирные купюры фунта стерлингов.

Место проведения: актовый зал.

Форма проведения: виртуальная обзорная экскурсия.

Педтехнологии: игровая, ИКТ, рефлексия.

Методы обучения: аудиовизуальный, практический.

Приёмы обучения: беседа, ролевая игра.


ХОД МЕРОПРИЯТИЯ


I. ВВЕДЕНИЕ

1. Вступительное слово менеджера по туризму.

Перед входом в аудиторию гостям раздают билеты на автобус. В самой аудитории уже начинается реклама автобусного тура по достопримечательностям Лондона (показ видеороликов о Лондоне на английском языке). Гости, пришедшие на урок, становятся пассажирами туристического автобуса и занимают места на стульях (на стульях разложены туристические буклеты), поставленных в два ряда вдоль кабинета в центре, как сиденья в автобусе. Рядом на стене находится изображение традиционного красного дабл-декера. Экскурсию начинает и заканчивает ученица. Она – менеджер по туризму, представляющая туристическое агентство «Сокровища Лондона». Ей помогают другие учащиеся, исполняющие роли гидов (все с бейджиками), туристов, официантки в кафе, продавщицы в магазине сувениров, участвующих в сценках «На улице», «В кафе», «В магазине сувениров».

Перед группой туристов находится водитель дабл-декера (ученик), который демонстрирует красочные слайды достопримечательностей Лондона по ходу движения автобуса (сидит за ноутбуком). Автобусный тур по достопримечательностям Лондона начинается. Дабл-декер трогается. Выходит менеджер по туризму после видеоролика «Лондонская экскурсия по маршруту 26-го автобуса».

Tourist manager: Good morning, dear guests. I am happy to greet you. We are welcome you to London! Let me introduce myself, my name is Jane Parker. I am a tourist manager. I represent the tourist agency “London Treasures”. Today my colleagues-guides will help me in our trip. I am glad you’ve chosen a bus tour about our capital, as it’s an ideal way for short trips. Here is our bus called double-decker because it has two storeys. (Указывает на автобус, рисунок которого прикреплён на стене) It’s a common thing to see red double-deckers in London streets. The top of a red double-decker has been hailed as one of the best ways to see the city center. Imagine that you are sitting on the top of it. Today we’ll visit London where you can meet English people and learn about places of interests of the capital! Ok, are you ready for travelling? (Ответы гостей. На экранетитульный Слайд №1.) Very well! Let’ take a bus and go to “London Sightseeing Tour”! (Плавное появление названия тура, потом сразу появляется Слайд №2 дабл-декера со звуком заведённого мотора.)

London is a beautiful place to be. Samuel Johnson, a well-known English writer of the 18th century, said:”When you are tired of London you are tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford”. London is situated in the south-east of England on the river Thames, where the Romans landed nearly 2000 years ago. It is 46 kilometers from the north to the south and 58 kilometers from the east to the west. London is one of the most famous capital cities of the world and every year it attracts crowds of visitors from home and abroad. This city has got a population of about 7 million people. That is 13% of Britain’s population. London really consists of 3 cities: the City of London, the City of Westminster, and the City of Southwark.

The City is the heart of London, its commercial and business district. (Cлайд №3, 4, 5) The area of the City is about a square mile. The “City” doesn’t refer to the whole of central London but rather to a small area east of the center, including the site of the original Roman town. The City of London is one of the major banking centers of the world and one can find the banks of many nations. Here can also be found the Bank of England, the Stock Exchange and the Lloyds, the most famous insurance company in the world. Only 5000 people live in the City, but more than a million come here to work.

Now we are passing the East End. This is the poorest part of London where people of all colours live. (Слайд №6, 7, 8)

There are a lot of places to go in the capital. And we are coming in the West End.

(Слайд №9, 10, 11) This part is best-known to rich tourists. And the first bus stop is the central square of London – Trafalgar Square. (Представляет 6 гидов.) So meet my colleagues David, Alice, Irene, Kate, Jack, Ann and Pam. These are your guides for today. I will wait for you at the last station. Have a good time! See you later. (Уходит. II. ОСНОВНАЯ ЧАСТЬ

1. Знакомство с основными достопримечательностями Лондона.

  1. Остановка “Trafalgar Square

Выходит 1-ый гид и в автобусе рассказывает о центральной площади Лондона, Национальной галерее, знаменитом доме №10 на Даунин cтрит, зданиях Парламента, башне Св. Стефана и Биг Бене по пути следования дабл-декера.

David: Good morning, dear guests! I’m David. Glad to see you!

(На фоне инструментальной музыки.) (Слайд №12) Trafalgar Square is a geographical center of London. It’s the largest among London’s squares. Trafalgar Square is the place where mass meetings, demonstrations and celebrations are held. So it can be said that Trafalgar square is the heart from which the beat is emitted to all Londoners. There are many pigeons and Londoners like to feed them here.

In the center of the square you can see (Слайд №13) Nelson Column – the monument to the great English admiral who smashed the French Fleet in the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The square is named so to honour his victory. The victory was won at the cost of Nelson’s life. The altitude of the column is 160 feet (about 52m) tall and the statue is 17 feet (more than 5m) in height. The figure of Nelson decorates the top of it. (Слайд №14) Melted cannons of enemies’ ships cover the bottom of the column. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument like guarders. (Слайд №15)

There are two beautiful fountains in the square. (Слайд №16) They are in front of the main building of Trafalgar Square – National Gallery which is one of the best picture galleries of the world. This fine building with tall columns has got faсade in neo-classical style. Behind National Gallery of Art is the National Portrait Gallery. As far as entrance to the gallery is free, a great many tourists try to visit the museum twice.

Обзорная автобусная экскурсия продолжается знакомством туристов с Вестминстерским дворцом – зданиями Парламента, мимо которых они проезжают, направляясь к Вестминстерскому аббатству.

Now we are going to visit Westminster Abbey, which is situated in the district of Westminster. We are driving down Whitehall. On the right you can see a severe-looking house known as 10, Downing Street. (Слайд №17, 18) By the way, do you know who the Prime Minister is now? (Ответы гостей.) Teresa May. Right, she is. This building is 200 years old. But its interior has been brought up-to-date. It has got electric lights, central heating, and several bathrooms. But at the same time it’s where the Cabinet meets.

From here we can see the Houses of Parliament, (Слайд №19) the home of the British government. Do you know what river the Houses of Parliament face? (Ответы гостей.) Yes, The Thames. British Parliament has been meeting here since the 16th century till now. The Houses of Parliament known officially as the New Palace of Westminster were built after the fire in 1834. There are two chambers in British Parliament: the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

The House of Commons sits to the side of the Clock Tower and the House of Lords – to the Victoria Tower side. There is the historical Woolsack, where the Lord Chancellor takes his place to preside over the sittings. At the end of the House of Commons is the Speaker’s Chair, on the right side of which the members of the parliamentary major-sit. The members of the groups that form the Opposition on the left, directly facing the Government benches.

St. Stephan’s Tower of the Houses of Parliament (Слайд №20) contains the famous Big Ben, a huge bell on the top of the Clock Tower, named after Sir Benjamin Hall, under whose direction the clock was built. Big Ben is the name of the bell only – not the clock, and not the tower. (Слайд №21) The bell is 7 foot 6 inches high, and 9 foot 6 inches across the mouth. It weights 13.5 tons. Westminster Abbey is situated just behind the Houses of Parliament. My colleague Alice will tell you about this beautiful church. Thank you very much for attention. Good luck! (Уходит.)

(Слайд №22) Here we can see Westminster Abbey. (Слайд №23-24) It is a royal church. (Слайд №25) Westminster Abbey was built in the 11th century. The Abbey is a fine example of Gothic architecture. It still remains one of the symbols of the British Crown. (Слайд №26) It is the place of coronation and burial of British kings. The first of them was William the Conqueror in 1066. That was the beginning of the tradition. The last monarch coronated in the Abbey was present Queen Elisabeth II. Westminster Abbey is famous for a great number of well-known people buried there. Among them you can find the names of famous writers and poets, political figures and scientists. Of course, you know such names as Charles Dickens, Walter Scott, Rudyard Kipling, Chamberlain, Gladstone and Isaac Newton. (Слайд №27)

Here you can see the tombs of many British Kings and Queens. (Слайд №28, 29, 30) The funeral service for Diana, princess of Wales took place in Westminster Abbey in September 1997.

There is also a well-known “Poets’ Corner”, (Слайд №31) where Geoffrey Сhorscer, Robert Burns and other outstanding British poets were buried.

In the Abbey you can see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, (Слайд №32)

the Memorial to Sir Winston Churchill, (Слайд №33, 34) a beautiful Henry VII Chapel (Слайд №35) and the Statue of Oliver Cromwell. (Слайд №36)

You can also visit here the Underground Museum where the things and portraits of the people buried in the Abbey are kept.

Kate: Good morning, dear guests! My name’s Kate. Nice to see you! Now we’ll make our way to Buckingham Palace and pass famous London parks. (Слайд №37) (На фоне инструментальной музыки.)

The special feature that distinguishes London from other capital cities is its many green parks, which have been enjoyed by its citizens since Hyde Park became the first public garden. Five of London’s nine royal parks are in the very heart of the capital. (Слайд №38) Among the most important parks that bring fresh life and colour to London are St. James’s Park, Green Park, Regent’s Park, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens that stretch across the West End. Each has its own character. Entrance to the parks is free and you may walk on the grass, lie down to rest on it, if the weather is fine you may even ride horses. The London Zoo is located in St. James’s Park. (Слайд №39)

Look right. (Слайд №40) We are passing Hyde Park. (Слайд №41) It’s the largest park in the West End of London. In the 19th century it became a popular place for public gathering of all kinds. Hyde Park is known for its Speaker’s Corner, (Слайд №42, 43) where anyone can stand up and say what he wants. There are many things to do in Hyde Park. You can hire a boat on the Serpentine Lake, cycle or rollerblade along one of the special paths, play tennis and so on.

Туристы выходят из автобуса для осмотра дворца снаружи. Сообщение о Букингемском дворце делает 4-ий гид (выходит). Туристам демонстрируются виды фронтальной части дворца с памятником королеве Виктории перед ним и традиционной торжественной церемонии смены караула дворца.

Irene: Good morning, dear guests! My name’s Irene. Glad to see you!

(На фоне инструментальной музыки.) (Слайд №44) Buckingham Palace was a red brick country mansion built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1705 and bought by George III in 1762. In 1837 Queen Victoria was the first monarch who began to live in this building. Buckingham Palace became the official residence of Queen Victoria as well. Nowadays when the monarch is in residence the Royal Standard flies on the roof. (Слайд №45)

The Palace is very beautiful but its 600 rooms make it uncomfortable despite reconstruction. The halls of the Palace are used for different ceremonies.

In Buckingham Palace about 550 people that hold different posts work. Among them there are keepers of Royal art collections, botanists, keepers of Queen swans, two Ladies of the Court and the stuff of 180 cooks, servants and gardeners. But the life inside the Palace is a mystery.

There is a wonderful daily ceremony, which takes place at 11.30 a.m. (Слайд №46, 47) Usually Londoners and a great number of foreign tourists watch Changing the Guards in front of the Palace. It’s a very beautiful parade. (Слайд №48)

There you can also see the Monument to Queen Victoria built in 1911. (Слайд №49) Tourists are allowed to visit the Picture Gallery of the Palace and Royal stables. If you have time, I recommend you to see the finest collections of the Palace.

Well, dear friends, now let’s go to Madam Tussaud’s. Meanwhile I’ll tell you about our art galleries, museums and libraries. Most of them are conducted by the state or by local authorities. We may name the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Tate Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Army Museum, the London Transport Museum and others.

(Слайд №52) The Tate Gallery is one of the best-known galleries in London. Henry Tate was a sugar manufacturer. He was fond of painting and collected many pictures.

(Слайд №53) The British Museum was founded in 1753. Its library is the largest in Britain. (Слайд №54) The Victoria and Albert Museum is named after Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert. It grew out of a small collection of objects bought for the Great Exhibition in London in 1851.

Гостей встречает 5-ый гид. Туристы выходят из автобуса для экскурсии в музей восковых фигур Мадам Тюссо. После его рассказа об истории музея и его коллекции группа туристов попадает в залы музея, где перед их взором предстают восковые фигуры Спящей Красавицы, мировых знаменитостей, персонажей Комнаты ужасов, самой Мадам Тюссо; знаменитые сыщик Шерлок Холмс и доктор Ватсон, английский физик Исаак Ньютон и выдающийся учёный Альберт Эйнштейн, а также восковая фигура великого драматурга У. Шекспира.

Jack: Good afternoon, dear guests! My name’s Jack. Nice to meet you here!

Welcome to Madam Tussaud’s Waxworks”! (На фоне инструментальной музыки.)

(Слайд №56) Madam Tussaud’s Exhibition was opened on its present site in Marylebone Road in 1884. The exhibition consists of several halls. In the 1st hall you can see the famous “Sleeping Beauty” (Слайд №57) with a mechanism that stimulates breathing. The 2nd hall contains life-size wax models of the popular sportsmen, film stars, TV personalities, rock- and pop-music stars, the members of the royal family and other celebrities. (По ходу демонстрации называет имена представленных знаменитостей.)

Слайд №58 – Here you see David Beckham with his wife Victoria and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Слайд №59 – This is the black and white silent film star Charlie Chaplin.

Слайд №71 – And finally you can see the British Royals.

The models of this famous waxworks museum have come a long way. Here lifelike effigies of the famous and infamous may be viewed. This is the place “where the people meet the people”.

The most famous of the wax rooms is the Chamber of Horrors. (Слайд №72) In the Chamber of Horrors you may see the wax figures of notorious criminals and their executioners. (Слайд №73)

(Слайд №74) Marie Grosholtz, the founder of the museum, was a good hand at making wax figures. Having married to the civil engineer Francois Tussaud she moved to London. By 1850, when she died at the age of 89, her works had been already known. In 1884, her grandson John Randal Tussaud put the wax figures into museum not far from Baker Street where they still remain for more than a century now.

I invite you to visit one of the museum’s halls. (Слайд №75) Here you can view the wax figures of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, the main characters in the books by a well-known English detective writer Arthur Conan Doyle:”Dear Watson, it’s elementary. You should just use the deductive method of investigating crimes”.

Let me introduce you one of the greatest scientists of the world Isaac Newton.

(Слайд №76) He discovered three main laws of physics. Of course, you remember the episode with the apple, which helped Newton to open the fundamental law of gravitation:”Do you know why an apple always falls down on the ground?” (Ответы гостей.) Right, because of the power of attraction. By the way you can see another great scientist Albert Einstein behind Isaac Newton.

I’m sure, you know prince Hamlet from the famous tragedy written by an outstanding English playwright William Shakespeare:”To be or not to be? That’s the question”.

(Слайд №77) Here you can see the wax figure of this great poet.

Many of the original models made by Marie Tussaud of her great contemporaries, such as Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin, Sir Walter Scott are still reserved.

Tourist: Excuse me, sir! I need your help.

Pedestrian: Yes, please. Good afternoon!

Tourist: Good afternoon! I have lost the way. Could you tell me the way to Piccadilly Circus?

Pedestrian: Oh! It’s very easy! Can you see that wide street over there?

Tourist: Yes, I can.

Pedestrian: Ok! Go along that street – Bridge Road – till zebra crossing. There you’ll turn right.

Tourist: And then where shall I go to?

Pedestrian: There you’ll see the Apple Street. Go down the street towards the Oxford Street. Go straight this wide street and it will lead you to Piccadilly Circus. Don’t cross the street.

Tourist: I beg your pardon, but should I cross the Oxford Street?

Pedestrian: Don’t cross it and go along the street till Piccadilly Circus. That’s all. Did you understand?

Tourist: Oh, yes, I did. Thank you very much! You are very kind.

Pedestrian: You are welcome. Have a nice day!

Tourist: You too, sir.

3. Завершающая часть экскурсии.

После посещения музея туристы садятся в автобус и направляются в Лондонский Тауэр, проезжая площадь Пикадилли и Тауэр-бридж. Демонстрируются виды этих мест. Экскурсию продолжает 6-ый гид.

Ann: Hello, dear Guests! My name’s Ann. Glad to see you! And now we are going to the Tower of London. Look on the right. (На фоне инструментальной музыки.)

(Cлайд №79) We are passing Piccadilly Circus, one of the busiest traffic junctions in London, as it’s a meeting point of six streets. It is a square in the Central Part of London. Many distinguished 19th and 20th century buildings and garish advertising signs surround it. (Слайд №80) In the middle of Piccadilly Circus aluminum Angel of Christian Charity is cast. London’s best-known theatres and cinemas and famous restaurants are on Piccadilly Circus. There is also a large underground station here. In the square you can see people of many nationalities and a lot of different languages.

(Слайд №81) Now we are passing one more sight: the river Thames. There are 27 bridges over the Thames in London and 8 tunnels under the river.

The most famous bridge is Tower Bridge. (Слайд №82) Neo-gothic architecture and bright colours make it the most favourite place for the photographs. It became one of the symbols of London of nowadays. You may also visit it if you wish and take some beautiful pictures.

Here we are at the Tower of London. (Слайд №83) My colleague Pam is going to tell you about it. Thank you very much for attention. Good luck! (Уходит. Фоновая музыка замолкает.)

Туристы выходят из автобуса для осмотра Тауэра. 7-ой гид рассказывает туристам об одной из старейших исторических построек Лондона и традициях, связанных с ней. Показывают общий вид Тауэра и символы королевской власти, хранящиеся в этом музее.

Pam: Good afternoon, dear guest! My name’s Pam. Nice to see you! Let’s go on.

(На фоне инструментальной музыки.) The Tower of London is a very ancient building. (Указывает на слайд №83) It’s more than 900 years old and was built by William the Conqueror in 1066. English kings lived there many years ago. It was a fortress, a Royal palace and later a prison, but now it’s a museum. (Слайд №84)

The Tower is most famous for its former prisoners who were locked up due to their religious beliefs or because of suspected treason – Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, Sir Raleigh, the honorable navigator who had brought the humble potato to Britain and Elisabeth I, the former queen of England. (Слайд №85, 86)

Nowadays the Tower of London has a different role that of guarding the Crown Jewels, which are kept in the Jewel house at the Tower. The collection includes Saint Edward’s Crown which is used for the coronation ceremony and the scepter that holds the biggest cut diamond in the world named the “Star of Africa”. (Слайд №87)

Visitors can also enjoy the company of ravens that wander about the Tower grounds. (Слайд №88) They are an impressive sight to see. The legend says that if they fly away, Britain will fall, that’s why ravens’ wings are cut. Besides you can see the so-called “beef-eaters” in traditional costumes who guard the Tower. (Слайд №89)

Now we are going to Covent Garden where you’ll meet our tourist manager Jane. She will continue the excursion. Thank you very much for attention. So let’s go! (Уходит. Фоновая музыка замолкает.)

Туристы садятся в автобус. По завершении экскурсии по Тауэру группу туристов везут во всемирно известный культурно-торговый центр Лондона Ковент-Гарден.

Tourist manager: Nice to meet you here, dear guests. The last point of our excursion is Covent Garden. (Слайд №90) It’s the biggest cultural and shopping center in Britain. Covent Garden has been the most important market-place in London for 300 years. It was officially established by King Charles II in 1670. It was called Covent Garden because it was the garden of the monks of Westminster Abbey. At that time it was very small and was used only by Londoners.

Nowadays it serves the whole of Britain. Today Covent Garden has been extensively restored and is now a lively shopping area with wine bars, restaurants, cafes, the theatre and covered Central Market. (Слайд №91)

4. Знакомство с чайной церемонией.

После короткого рассказа о чайной традиции в Англии следует небольшая реклама английского чая «Ахмад». Затем, ответив на вопросы туристов, менеджер по туризму объявляет о свободном времени для похода в кафе, по магазинам торгового центра.

In Britain there is a tradition: so-called “5 o’clock tea”. It’s a sociable sort of thing as friends often come in then for a chat while having their cup of tea with milk usually and with a cake or a biscuit. Well, now it’s high time to have a 5 o’clock tea. You may have it just here in some café of Covent Garden.

I hope you’ll choose English tea “Ahmad”. There are different kinds of it:“Green Tea”, “Lemon Tea”, “Earl Grey Tea”, “Ceylon Tea” and others. Good strength, a bright colour and a subtle aroma set this tea above the rest.

Dear guests, now you have free time. I recommend you to visit the café. After a cup of tea you may do the shopping here. There is a nice souvenirs‘ shop on the second floor. Tourist 1-2: Good afternoon!

Waitress: Good afternoon! Welcome to our café “Pirate ship”!

Tourist 1: Could you give us the menu, please?

Waitress: Yes, here you are.

Tourist 1: Thank you.

Tourist 2: What shall we order?

Tourist 1: Let’s have a hamburger, an ice-cream and some juice.

Tourist 2: A hamburger… no, I don’t want it. I’d like to have a cup of tea instead juice.

Tourist 1: Have some cake. You may ask the waiter to advice something delicious.

Tourist 2: Good idea! Can you recommend some cake for me?

Waitress: Sure. Take “Old castle”. It’s tasty treat I think.

Tourist 2: Well, so a cup of lemon tea, a cake “Old castle”.

Waitress: OK. Are you ready to order? (Обращается к 1-му туристу.)

Tourist 1: Yes. A hamburger, an ice cream, a glasses of juice for me, please.

Waitress: What ice cream?

Tourist 1: Chocolate, please.

Waitress: What juice?

Tourist 1: Orange, please.

Waitress: OК. Just a minute!

Shop assistant: Yes, we do. How about this key ring?

Tourist: That’s a good idea. How much is it?

Shop assistant: It’s £4.00. Can I offer you something else?

Tourist: Sure. How much is this blue mug? I can’t see a price.

Shop assistant: Just a minute. It’s £6.00.

Tourist: Well, and that teddy bear?

Shop assistant: That one is £5.00. How about these pencil sharpener, copybook or cards?

Tourist: How much are they?

Shop assistant: They’re £3.00 each.

Tourist: OK, I’ll take them too.

Shop assistant: So, you’ll take these key ring, mug, teddy bear pencil sharpener, copybook and card, right?

Tourist: Exactly. How much are they?

Shop assistant: They’re £24.00 together. But you have a discount. You’ll pay only £20.00.

Tourist: No thanks, that’s alright.

Shop assistant: Would you like a bag?

Tourist: Yes, please.

Tourist manager: Dear guests! Our excursion is over. But before you go, I would like to ask you to show your mood after the trip with these smiles. Write your propositions or impressions about our today work on the other side of the smile you take. Your opinions are very important for us!
