Цели: обобщение изученного материала по теме «Лондон»; развитие аудитивных, грамматических и лексических навыков; развитие интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка.


Ход мероприятия:


  • Hello, boys and girls! I am glad to see you. I hope you are fine. Today we’ll play the game “Star Hour”. Our topic is “London”. We’ll remember the places of interest of London, play different games with English letters and words.

Учитель приветствует учащихся и сообщает им цель урока. В игре принимают участие 6-8 человек. Выполняя задания различных туров, участники игры за правильные ответы получают звёздочки. Победителем игры считается тот, кто набрал больше всего очков – звёздочек.


1 тур. (Презентация – 3 слайда)

- I want you to listen to my stories. I’ll describe different places of interest of London. You can see the pictures of these places and you’ll use the cards with appropriate numbers on your desks.


  1. It is a wonderful building. The Queen Victoria Memorial is situated in front of it. It takes you ten minutes to get from this building to Trafalgar Square, which is the centre of London. The Queen of Great Britain lives there. (Buckingham Palace)

  2. There are many old and new beautiful parks in London. This park is the largest one. It is one of the most popular places of Londoners during the hot summer days. The park is famous for its Speaker’s Corner. (Hyde Park)

  3. It is one of the greatest English churches. It is not far from the Tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17th century after the Great Fire. It is a fine building with many columns and towers. In one of the towers there is one of the largest bells in the world. (St. Paul’s Cathedral)

  4. It is more than nine hundred years old. There are many monuments and statues there, many English kings and queens are buried there. It is famous for the Poet’s Corner. It is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. This church has two tall towers. (Westminster Abbey)

  5. English kings lived there many years ago. It was a fortress, a Royal palace and a prison, but now it’s a museum. The ravens are another famous sight. The legend says that without them the Tower will fall. (The Tower of London)

  6. It is the seat of the British government. There are two chambers in British Parliament: The House of Lords and the House of Commons. (The Houses of Parliament)

  7. St. Stephan’s Tower of the Houses of Parliament contains it. It is one of the most famous clocks in the world. (Big Ben)

  8. It is the main building of Trafalgar Square with its façade in neo-classical style. It has a fine collection of European paintings. (National Gallery)

  9. It is the most important river in England and the main source of London’s water supply. In this picture, the Palace of Westminster is on the left, in front of Westminster Bridge. (The Thames River)

  10. It is a geographical centre of London. It’s the largest among London’s squares. On the column in the centre there is a statue of Admiral Nelson who defeated the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. (Trafalgar Square)

  11. It spans the Thames River from the Tower of London to Southward on the south side of the Thames. It was the only movable bridge crossing the Thames when it was completed in 1894. The bridge was designed by Sir Horace Jones and built by Sir John Wolfe Barry. (The Tower Bridge)

  12. It is the United Kingdom’s national museum of antiquities, containing more than 6 million objects. Founded in 1743, the museum has occupied the current building since it was completed in 1847. The building was designed by English architect Sir Robert Smirk. (British Museum)

The next task for you is to make up the long word using the following letters. You will have 2 minutes to do the task. If you have the longest word, you will get a “star”.

Обладатель самого длинного слова получает звёздочку. Обладатель самого короткого слова выбывает из игры.


3 тур. (5 слайд)


  • Will you look at the board, please? Let’s read the words. You’ll have some minutes to think about the way of making sentences using these words and write down as many sentences as you can on the topic “London”. We’ll read your sentences in 4 minutes.

В течение 4 минут учащиеся записывают предложения с данными словами на листочках бумаги. При оценивании работы учитывается количество предложений, использование различных речевых структур и грамматическая правильность предложений. Ученики – победители данного тура – награждаются звёздочками, а учащиеся, составившие меньшее количество предложений, выбывают из игры.


Примерные предложения:

  1. There are a lot of monuments in this city.

  2. The center of London is Trafalgar Square.

  3. It is a wonderful place to visit.

  4. London is the capital of Great Britain.

  5. The Queen of England lives in the palace.

  6. Is there a bridge near the Houses of Parliament?

  7. They built Westminster Abbey more than nine hundred years ago.

  8. We can’t see a tall column in the middle of the park.


4 тур.


Учащиеся называют три формы неправильных глаголов. Учитель даёт жетон за каждый правильный вариант ответа. Ученик, набравший большее количество жетонов, получает звезду. Ученик, набравший наименьшее количество жетонов, выбывает из игры.

Глаголы: быть, приходить, приносить, покупать, выбирать, давать, понимать, есть, ходить, спать, думать, писать, пить, ломать, забывать, летать, знать, делать, встречать, класть, ловить.


5 тур.

На слайде запись словосочетания “Parliament Square”. За 4 минуты ученики, которые вышли в финал составляют слова из данного словосочетания. Затем по очереди они называют свои слова. Каждое слово можно использовать только один раз. В финале выиграет ученик, который назвал слово последним.



  • So you can see that the winner of our game is (Mike). Now it is his “Star Hour”. Let’s listen to him. Thank you for the game. See you next week.


В завершение игры победитель получает право выступить с речью в течение 1-2 минут. Затем учитель организует награждение участников игры.
