Аннотация к разработке

Данный урок был разработан для проведения в 8 классе по учебнику “Happy English.ru – 8” в рамках темы «Скажи мне, что ты читаешь, и я скажу тебе, кто ты» в форме заседания клуба читателей и являлся презентацией проектов учащихся по теме «Агата Кристи и ее персонажи».

Заранее была проведена подготовительная работа с обучающимися. В зависимости от уровня обученности им были предложены разные типы заданий: подготовить презентацию (найти фильм) о жизни и творчестве Агаты Кристи, разработать к ним послетекстовые упражнения, составить рассказы о главных персонажах ее детективных историй, инсценировать отрывок из произведения писательницы, подготовить выставку книг, нарисовать портреты А.Кристи и ее персонажей и т.д.

Задачи:

- познакомить с жизнью и творчеством А.Кристи;

- повысить интерес к изучению английского языка;

- развивать навыки устной речи;

- развивать навыки просмотрового чтения для получения полной и детальной

информации;

- развивать творческие умения и навыки обучающихся;

- воспитывать любовь к чтению художественной литературы;

- воспитывать уважительное отношение к изучаемому языку, стране изучаемого

языка, ее культуре и традициям

Оборудование:

- компьютер с проектором, экран;

- карточки – лото (11 экземпляров);

- реквизит для сценки;

- фотоматериалы для оформления класса

Teacher: - Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Let me open our readers’ club. Today we have the first meeting. All of us are fond of reading, I suppose. But what do you like to read? (Students’ answers)

• And who likes to read detective stories? I think all of you are interested in them.

And today we are going to take a trip into mysterious and thrilling world of criminals, murderers and detectives. We know a lot of writers who worked on this theme, but today we must remember the Queen of Crime, who is the most popular author all over the world – Agatha Christie.

Student 1: - And we would like to start our conversation with the short film about Agatha Christie. This film will be in Russian, but after you finish watching you will have to do some tasks in English. Be attentive, please!

Student 1: - Thank you for attention. Now let’s check how you remember the information from this video. You have cards with the words on your desks. I’ll quickly ask some questions about A. Christie and you must find the answer on this card and tick it. It is like Bingo. Who will find all the answers first, says “Bingo!” He or she is the winner. Let’s start!

1. What was A. Christie’s maiden name?

2. Where was she born?

3. Where did she get her education?

4. What was her first husband’s name?

Student 2: - In her works Agatha Christie created two great characters: Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Look at the presentation. (Слайд 3) There is a text about them. Read please it and put the given words in right places:

1. other well-known character was Miss Marple

2. became tired of her Belgian detective

3. is a Belgian detective

4. for his moustache

5. knitting, walking around the neighborhood

Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple

In her works Agatha Christie created two great characters. Hercule Poirot … (1)who appeared in 33 of Agatha Christie’s novels. He is best known(2)... Poirot thinks logically and likes order. He examines the crime scene in detail and claims that every crime can be solved.

As time went on Agatha Christie …(3) and wanted to get rid of him. But he was very popular among her readers. When he died in "Curtain" in 1978 he became the only fictional character to get an obituary in the New York Times.

Agatha Christie's …(4), an old woman who wants to be an amateur detective. She likes(5)… and she observes things very carefully. She became famous for solving cases where the police failed. In contrast to Hercule Poirot, Christie was very fond of Miss Marple.

Student 3: - With her 78 crime novels, Agatha Christie has the distinction of being the world's best-selling writer, and "The Mousetrap", one of her 19 plays, has run longer than any other production in the history of the British theatre. Look please at the presentation about her most popular books. (Слайды 4-7)

- It is impossible to say exactly how many of her books have been sold, but it is more than a billion copies in English and another billion in 63 foreign languages. In 1995 her sales were still running at three million a year. She is the most widely published author of any time in any language, being outsold only by The Bible.

Student 4: - And today we would like to present a small play based on A.Christie’s novel “Double clue”

SСENE I

Narrator: Mr. Hardman was rich, but not remarkably so. His hobby was collecting. Poirot and Hastings, obeying Mr. Hardman’s urgent call, had arrived at his house.

Hardman: My rubies, Monsieur Poirot, and the emerald necklace – said to have belonged to Catherine de Medici. Oh, the emerald necklace!

Poirot: Tell me the circumstances of their disappearance, please.

Hardman: You see, yesterday afternoon I had a little tea party. I was showing my guests my collection of medieval jewels. I keep them in the small wall safe over there. Then we all went to the studio for music. After everyone had gone I discovered that the safe was empty! But there must be no publicity! I hope you understand that. It would be a horrible scandal!

Poirot: Who was the last person to leave this room when you went to the studio?

Hardman: Mr. Johnston, the South African millionaire. He has just rented the house in Park Lane.

Poirot: Did any of your guests return to this room during the afternoon?

Hardman: Three of them did so. Countess Vera Rossakoff, Mr. Bernard Parker and Lady Runcorn.

Hastings: Let us hear about them.

Hardman: The Countess Rossakoff is a very charming Russian Lady. She has recently come to this country. And I was surprised to find her in this room looking at my collection of fans.

Poirot: Extremely suspicious; but let us hear about the others.

Hardman: Well, Parker simply came here to take a case of miniatures which I was anxious to show to Lady Runcorn.

Hastings: And Lady Runcorn herself?

Hardman: Well, she returned to take a handbag she had laid down there.

Poirot: So we have 4 possible suspects. The Russian countess, the English grand dame, the South African millionaire, and Mr. Bernard parker. Who is Mr. Parker, by the way?

Hardman: He is – er – he is a young fellow I know.

Hastings: What does he do, this young fellow? And did he come to be a friend of yours?

Hardman: Well – er – on one or two occasions he has performed certain little commissions for me.

Poirot: Continue, monsieur.

Hardman: You see, I’m interested in antique jewels. Sometimes there is a family heirloom to be disposed of. Parker arranges the details of such things, he is in touch with both sides. For instance, the Countess Rossakoff has brought some family jewels which she wants to sell. Parker was to have arranged the deal.

Poirot: I see. And do you trust him totally?

Hardman: I have no reason to do otherwise.

Poirot: Mr. Hardman, of these 4 people, which do you yourself suspect?

Hardman: Oh, what a question! They are my friends. I suspect none of them.

Poirot: I do not agree. You suspect one of those four.

Hardman: You drive me into a corner. I am most anxious to have no scandal.

Poirot: May I examine the safe? (takes the safe) Even now the door does not shut properly… Ah, what we have here? A man’s glove, caught in the hinge…

Hardman: That’s not one of my gloves.

Hastings: Aha! Something more!

Hardman: My cigarette case!

Poirot: Yours? Surely not, those are not your initials.

Hardman: You are right. It’s very like mine, but the initials are different. A P and A B. Good heavens – Parker!

Poirot: A careless young man! Especially if the glove is his also. That would be a double clue.

Hardman: Well, I leave it to you to recover the jewels. Good-bye!

Poirot: See you soon!

SCENE II

Poirot: You see, my friend, the whole thing was a little curious. Hardman suspected Lady Runcorn, and I suspected The Countess and Johnston.

Hastings: Why did you suspect the other two?

Poirot: Any woman can call herself a Russian countess, anyone can buy a house in Park Lane and call himself a South African Millionaire. But I observe that we are passing through Bury Street. Our young friend lives here.

Narrator: Mr. Bernard Parker was at home. They found him reclining on some cushions, wearing an amazing dressing gown.

Poirot: Good morning, monsieur. I’ve come from Mr. Hardman. Yesterday, at the party, somebody stole all his jewels. Let me ask you, is this your glove?

Parker: Where did you find it?

Hastings: Is it your glove?

Parker: No, it isn’t.

Poirot: And this cigarette case, is that yours?

Parker: Certainly not. I always carry a silver one.

Poirot: Very well. I go to put matters in the hands of the police.

Parker: Oh, I say, I wouldn’t do that, if I were you…. Wait a bit…..

SCENE III

Narrator: Two hours later without a warning the door opened and a woman in furs entered the room. Countess Vera Rossakoff was a disturbing personality.

Vera: You are Monsieur Poirot? You accuse that poor boy! It is unbelievable. I know him. He would never steal!

Poirot: Tell me, madam, is this his cigarette case?

Vera: Yes, it is his. What of it? Did you find it in the room? We were all there…

Hastings: And is this his glove?

Vera: How should I know? Do not try to stop me – he must be free. The poor boy! He came to me, the tears in his eyes….  Now it is settled, I go! (уходит)

Hastings: Oh, what a woman! And what furs!

Poirot: Ah, yes… Well, well, so Mr. Parker went crying to her!

Hastings: The cigarette case is his. I wonder if the glove is also - (Пуаро достает из кармана вторую перчатку) – Where did you get the second one?

Poirot: It was thrown down with a stick on the table in the hall in Bury Street. Truly, a very careless young man, Mr. Parker. And now we must make a little visit to Park Lane.

SCENE IV

Narrator: So Poirot and Hastings went to Park Lane where Mr. Johnston, the South African millionaire, lived. Johnston was out and his secretary talked to Poirot.

Secretary: Good afternoon, can I help you, gentlemen?

Poirot: Yes, please, I’m Mr. Poirot and this is my friend Mr. Hastings. We would like to see Mr. Johnston.

Secretary: Unfortunately, he is out at the moment. Mr. Johnston has recently arrived from South Africa. And he is very busy now.

Poirot: He is interested in precious stones, isn’t he?

Secretary: Gold mining is nearer the mark.

Poirot: Now I see….Thank you, good-bye.

Secretary: Good-bye!

SCENE V

Narrator: Later that evening Hastings was surprised to find Poirot studying  Russian Grammar.

Hastings: Good heavens, Poirot! Are you learning Russian in order to speak Russian with the Countess?

Poirot: She certainly wouldn’t listen to my English, my friend. I’m trying to understand the nuances of the Russian alphabet.

Hastings: Perhaps, you doubt her being really a Russian. Are you going to test her?

Poirot: Oh, no, no, no….

Входит Hardman

Hardman: Well, Monsieur Poirot, any news?

Poirot:  This is the person who took the jewels. (передает ему листок бумаги с именем вора). Shall I put matters in the hands of the police?

Hardman: ????????? Most astonishing. I prefer to have no scandal in the matter….

Poirot: Then I’ll recover the jewels myself.

SCENE VI

Narrator: Their next procedure was to take a taxi, which Poirot ordered to drive to Carlton. There he inquired for Countess Rossakoff. She came to meet them with outstretched hands.

Vera: Monsieur Poirot! You have succeeded?

Poirot: I have promised Mr. Hardman that the jewels shall be returned to him today.

Vera: So????

Poirot: Therefore, I should be obliged if you would place them in my hands without delay.

Vera: (laughing nervously)….. oh, …… take them , please, you needn’t look inside, they are all there. (giving him the jewels)

Poirot: It’s very nice of you, madam. You are remaining long in London?

Vera: I am afraid not – owing to you.

Poirot: Accept my apologies.

Vera: We shall meet again, perhaps.

Poirot: I hope so.

Vera: And I – do not!!!!!!!!!

Poirot: Good-bye.

SCENE VIII

Poirot: What a woman! She will go far, and she is dangerous. She has nerves of steel.

Hastings: When did you suspect the Countess, I wonder?

Poirot: Mon ami, it was the glove and the cigarette case – the double clue. One of these things belonged to the Countess.

Hastings: But if the case was hers, why did it have B.P. on it?  The Countess initials are V.R.!

Poirot: Exactly, mon ami, but in the Russian alphabet, B is V and P is R.

Hastings: I couldn’t guess, I don’t know Russian alphabet.

Poirot: Neither do I. That’s why I bought my little book…… A remarkable woman!  I have a feeling that I shall meet her again…..

(Звучит музыка из сериала «Эркюль Пуаро».Учащиеся – актеры выходят, кланяются)

Teacher: - Thank you. Your work today was very good. You collected a lot of materials, prepared brilliant presentations and texts for reading about A.Christie, performed wonderful play. I hope our club will meet again and we’ll have another interesting lesson. Good bye! See you soon!
