A.The year 1492 marked for Spain the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the New World. It was a voyage funded by Queen Isabella. Columbus’s first voyage crossed the Atlantic and reached the Caribbean Islands, beginning the European exploration and the Spanish conquest of the Americas, although Columbus was sure that he had reached India and found a way to the Orient.
B. With the total area of 505.992 square km Spain is the world's 52nd largest country in the world and Europe’s 4th largest country. Spain is a transcontinental country having territory in both Europe and Africa. In the west. Spain is bordered by Portugal; in the south, it is bordered by Gibraltar (a British overseas territory) and Morocco. Tenerife is the highest mountain peak in Spain.
C. In Spain we can see three main climatic zones. The Mediterranean climate is characterized by hot and dry summers, and it is dominant in the peninsula. The semi-arid dry climate can be found in the southeastern quarter of the country. The oceanic climate is in the northern quarter of the country. There w inter and summer temperatures are influenced by the ocean.
D. The Spanish fauna is very diverse because of the geographical position of the Iberian peninsula between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean and between Africa and Eurasia. The vegetation of Spain is varied too because of several factors including the diversity of the relief and the climate. Spain includes different phytogcographic regions, each with its own floristic characteristics.
E. In 2017, Spain was the second most visited country in the world, recording 82 million tourists. Spain’s geographic location, popular coastlines, diverse landscapes, history and culture together with excellent infrastructure has made the country’s international tourist industry one of the largest in the world. Travel brings about 5% of the total income to the country.

Cat’s punctuality
Sergeant Podge, a Norwegian Forest Cat, disappears from his owner’s home in a small town in Kent, every night. But what baffles his owner, Liz Bullard, mostly is the fact that the next morning, the 12-year-old cat always pops up in exactly the same place, A ______. And every morning Ms. Bullard takes her son to school before collecting Sergeant Podge.
She said that the routine had set in earlier this year, when Sergeant Podge disappeared one day. Ms. Bullard spent hours telephoning her neighbours В ______.
