Warm up:
What world heritage sites can you name? Why are world heritage sites very important? Where are world heritage sites in Kazakhstan? Can you guess where or what might they be? Learners read the questions they’ve made up on the PPT (home task), answer them, discuss again what world heritage sites are, why they are important, give some information about places they’ve discussed and then they are play the Jeopardy game. |

1. a) Students split up into 3 groups (G) b) They play the Jeopardy game. The members of the team with most correct answers will become the winners. c) Those teams who are not able to gain enough points have to give a short Heritage sites of Kazakhstan. Write a short essay about KZ heritage site Teacher shows the objective and assessment criteria on the board: 8.W3 write with moderate grammatical accuracy on a limited range of familiar general and curricular topics
Learners read out their short essays and do peer assessment Speaking 1 (8.S8) Learners are shown three pictures of KZ heritage sites to describe. Some words are given to help. Success criteria: I can intelligibly talk about KZ heritage sites with the help of given phrases. Reading Learners are handed out texts-tapescripts of the video about saiga (from the previous lesson). Last time they filled in the blanks, so they have full version of the text. Learners read the text, work with new words, discuss it. Vocabulary. And this they write text about Saiga antelope

Speaking 2: “We can still save the saiga” (8 S8, 8.S5) Learners are divided into pairs with the help of cards to make up a dialogue. Before starting to do the task several short videos about saigas can be shown to learners. They are free to use notebooks, mobile phones to search necessary information. Task: Use internet resources (some links from course plan can be suggested) to find necessary information about this endangered species and make up a dialogue with your partner (10 minutes for preparation, 10 minutes for checking) Success criteria: I can interact with my partner to make up a dialogue “We can still save the saiga”, where we use new words, keep grammar rules, spell the words correctly |
