This year we celebrate the 70^th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and I want to write about the World War II to deal with my opinion and to show my feelings about those difficult and awful times.

World War II began on the 1^st of September. As I know, so many countries took part in that war. But in Russia we began to fight on the 22^nd of June in 1941 and finished only after 4 years, four difficult and awful years.

It was the War of 2 world military and political coalitions, which became the greatest armed conflict in the history of human beings. 62 of 73 countries took part in that war. Military operations waged on 3 continents and in waters of 4 oceans [Вторая мировая война 1939—1945 — БСЭ — Яндекс. Словари].

World War II affected every person`s souls.

Everybody joined war: women let their husbands, brothers and sons go to join the army and to fight against fascism. Those, who couldn`t go at the front, worked hard for those, who fought for our motherland. They ploughed the ground, took care for their gardens.

People devoted their lives for our motherland`s destiny, for their fellows.

World War II brought lives of millions of people. Those, who were at war, didn`t think about glory, they worried only about future life of Russia.

Fascist besieged Leningrad and for 900 days people were besieged, they suffered from starvation, frost, cold, enemy`s bombardment, they sometimes didn`t sleep, but they didn`t surrender, didn`t give their city to their enemy.

There was no family, which was affected with this trouble. Fascist were sorry for nobody: nor women, old people neither children – they killed everybody. Many children became orphans.

Nowadays, there are few veterans, but we admire those, who are still alive.

Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten”. “Everything for the front, everything for victory” – these words were heard during the war.

World War II damaged big cities, countries, people`s houses – everything. Then life in Russia changed life of all people. Despite of lack of money, new schools, hospitals, buildings and houses for people were built by people.

The memory of those, who gave their lives for our lives must be respected and honored.

We must know the history not to let that awful war happen again.
