Outstanding People of Russia I love my country and I am proud to be Russian. It’s a huge country and we have a lot of outstanding people here. Some of them are famous for the whole world. They have made a great contribution in the development of our culture, education, medicine and so on. For example, Alexander Pushkin was a great writer. He helped to develop our literature and his novels are translated into many languages. Yuri Gagarin was the first pilot who went to the space. Russian scientist Dmitry Mendeleyev discovered the Periodic Table of the Elements. It became the basic law for future discoveries in chemistry. Our history has hundreds outstanding people. And I truly believe new geniuses are still yet to come.
