What motivates me in my job.

First of all, I would like to say that the most important thing that motivates people in any job is the feeling that you like it. If you feel that this occupation makes you happy you will enjoy it.

As for me and my personal motivations, there are, actually, a lot of them, but I would like to speak about just several most important.

The first thing is so called “continuity of generations”. I mean, what first influenced on my decision to go in for teaching was the fact that my grandpa was a teacher, and my mom was a teacher. So, there was no other way for me, actually.

Moreover, I like children, no matter small kids or teenagers. I like the process of growing-up. And I am really happy to feel that I can be a part of this very process. Also, I am absolutely sure that you can’t be a teacher if you don’t like children. They can easily feel your indifference and this fact won’t do anything good.

Of course, English itself is a motivation too. But for me the process of communication is more important. You can meet different people with absolutely different minds, you can talk to them, moreover, you can help them express their ideas. All these things do motivate me to teach.

The feeling that I can change something is also important. I mean, that feeling when you can see the results of your work. I am happy when I see that my students make progress. And, as I said before, if I am happy, I enjoy my job.

And one more very important thing for me is constant development. Teaching is a kind of occupation when you can’t stop progressing and developing. You must study and develop with your students. It is impossible to stop for a minute, everything is changing, so does the language. You must change with it, you must change your ideas and points of view. You must develop your mind and look at the world from a different angle. But all these things make the life brighter.

So, these are the most important factors that motivate me in my job. But, of course, there are many other things, such as long holidays, for example. But such things can’t influence you and they can’t make you develop and change. But holidays is not a thing to choose teaching as a profession.

If you want to become a teacher you must love children, first of all. And after that you will find your own motivations.
