Teacher: Dear friends, we are going to have an unusual lesson. We have read and spoken much about one of the most beautiful cities of the world – London. We learnt a lot of interesting information about its history and sights.

Teacher: That’s right. London is the capital of Great Britain. It stands on the river Thames. It consists of three parts: the City of London, the West End and the East End. Ok. Let’s see what places we’ll visit today. Welcome to London.

Teacher: Before we continue, let’s remember the words we learnt about town life. We have scrambled letters- put them in the right order and you’ll know some town objects.

Teacher: We are going on our trip. Look at the map of London. Find the places of interest you know and say a few words about them.

The tower of London was a fortress, a royal palace and later a prison. Now it is very famous museum.

Teacher: Who can describe this place? (The Houses of Parliament)
Pupil: The members of the British Parliament work in this building it has more than 1200 rooms. The House of Parliament is the seat of the British government. These consist of the House of Commons, the House of Lords and Westminster Hall. The building are situated in central London overlooking the river.

Teacher: I see a tall tower. What is it? What do you know about Big Ben?
Pupil: Big Ben is the biggest clock bell in Great Britain. It strikes every quarter hour.

Pupil: It is a wonderful building.The Queen of Great Britain lives there When the Queen is at home

Teacher: Oh, I see a great church. What is it? Yes, you are right. Will you tell us about Westminster Abbey?
Pupil: It is more than 9 hundred years old.It is one of the most beautiful churches in London. There are many monuments and statues there , many English kings and queens are buried there.

Teacher: We are in Trafalgar Square, aren’t we? What is it famous for? Can you tell us?
Pupil: The most beautiful place in London.In the middle of it is a monument of Admiral Nelson situated.

Pupil: It is one of the greatest English churches.In its towers is one of the largest bells in the world.
