Art in Our Life

Everything that is fine and gives us wonderful emotions is art. Art plays a very important role in the life of people. It gives them joy, hope, wonder and helps to overcome the difficulties in their life, makes their life richer and more interesting.

During centures people created masterpieces of art. We know a number of names of great painters in the world and their works.

Each country has their own culture and cultural institutions: museums, galleries and architectual monuments as well as in Russia.

From the 18th century, when Peter the Great introduced western tastes and forms in art and architecture, Russian art moved away from religion towards a secular tradition. Portrait painting, marines and landscapes were dominant genres. In the second half of the 19th century artists of Russia started painting scenes of contemporary life, that group of artists were called Peredvizhniki (Ivan Repin, Victor Vasnetsov, Ivan Shishkin, Vasily Surikov, Vasily Vereshagin and others). It was a democratic association of realistic artists.

Today we can admire with the numerous works of famous artists all over the world and in Russia too. There are many famous Russian painters as V. Surikov we know his famous "Morning of the Streietsky Execution", it was devoted to the time of Peter the Great, I. Levitan who considered to be a real poet of Russian countryside. Their paintings are emotional lyrical and realistic.

The works of artists make people better becaise in their works we see their feelings for nature, great love for their native land, their abilities to reveal and depict the poetry of their land, love and gratitude to people. Art has a great influence on young generation today.
