Our world is incredibly large and filled with diverse people, countries, cultures, and beliefs. In this lesson, learners will learn about global citizenship and what it means to be a global citizen.
Global citizenship is the idea that everyone, no matter where they live, is part of a large community which is called the World. The life of my students may not look like the lives of children in other countries, but they may share similar experiences, like playing games or having a family. Being a global citizen means that you look for these similarities and try to understand how life may be different for other people.
Thinking and talking about global citizenship is a great opportunity to get kids reflecting on the world around them.
During the pre – reading task learners are getting ready with vocabulary to discuss the issues. While this activity, learners also practice some global citizenship values as helping each other for advanced students collaborate with the less in advance.
The outcome of the lesson is the poster presentation, for which students collaboratively work in groups. Teacher has to involve learners into thinking about their how to do something as responsible global citizens. Students are to peer assess their classmates and they are taught to complete the task giving positive and objective feedback as well as reflect on their own learning.
