How television and computers can be used in language learning

It goes without saying that a lot of people are fond of learning foreign languages nowadays. I’m not an exception and am really happy to live in the modern world where computers and television stay irreplaceable things in daily life. It’s an obvious fact that such kind of devices can help one enhance knowledge in any sphere includes learning languages. To be honest, I’m absolutely convinced that using television or computer is by far the most suitable way to enrich fluency in foreign language and nothing can substitute them. Now I’m going to confirm this opinion with some real-life examples.

To begin with, a computer is a real godsend for a person in the learning languages process because by using it one can find a variety of movies and series of interest with subtitles needed language. It is definitely a wonderful way to boost one’s knowledge and get extensive vocabulary. In addition, one can hardly get used to learning atmosphere at the first stages without actual understanding people’s speaking. Textbooks at educational institutes and libraries do not prepare a learner for how native speakers actually speak, therefore computers are of valuable and considerable importance in the process of studying languages because it gives one an opportunity to hear foreigns’ speaking with great pleasure and in case of misunderstanding take a look at subtitles to learn the obscure word. Moreover, it does not present any difficulties to find native speakers to practice speaking in the Internet by using a computer. I am absolutely convinced that people are lucky to live in the modern world and have such simple and most importantly fascinating method to learn languages.

By the way, a great extension to a computer may become a TV. It includes foreign TV channels watching which one can seek cultures of interesting countries and of course hear foreign speaking, learn some terms from news broadcasts and expand knowledge in culture by watching travelling telecasts. It is really ridiculous that not everyone fully understands that TV is not only for resting with a bag of popcorn but also an awesome thing in learning new words. In addition, the most sorrowful thing of all beginners is dramatis intonation and shocking accents because using textbooks at the first stages of studying leads to nothing but speaking in a slow and stilted way. But if you listen to lots of realistic conversations by watching TV, you will see the progress and steps by steps will start speaking in more natural way.

To sum up, I would like to note that computers and TV are of considerable importance if you want to enrich your language skills and sound like a native speaker. Being fluent is crucial and such devises are by far the most effective and convenient way to reach this aim.
