“ Vanished”: What does that mean?  Read the sentences to find out. 1) Dinosaurs vanished from the face of the earth millions of years ago. 2) Look! My T-shirt is clean now. The spots vanished completely.

“ Vanished”: What does that mean? Read the sentences to find out.

  • 1) Dinosaurs vanished from the face of the earth millions of years ago.
  • 2) Look! My T-shirt is clean now. The spots vanished completely."
  • As you can guess, it means “disappeared” .

Vanished!  A thrilling story by John, 13 - Open your books at page 20. Read the title. What do you think the story is about? It is supposed to be about a person or people who vanished . - Analyze the illustrations. How do the people in the pictures feel like? The group of children in the first picture in the top seem to feel scared . The boy in the second picture seems to be sleepy . - Look at the set of new words below and copy them to your vocabulary . Try to remember as many as you can. They will help you to describe the sounds you hear. sigh - вздыхать chat - болтать snore - храпеть cry - кричать storm - штормить gasp - ахнуть gust of wind – вой ветра laugh - смеяться whisper - шептать yawn - зевать

  • - Open your books at page 20. Read the title. What do you think the story is about?

By memorizing these pares you will learn twice more words not only to describe the sounds you hear but the way the things/people make it. Then read the story again and answer the questions of ex. 2, p. 20 . - Write down the words in bold (выделенные жирным шрифтом) into your vocabulary. Look for their Russian equivalents in the list of words at page WL3 of your book. - You will have to write your own adventure/humorous/mystery story as a home task. To understand the algorithm of your work, read the rubric Study Skills at page 20. To write a story you need to: think of the character(s), the place and the time, the events in the order they happen (happened), the climax (most important, crucial) event, your (your character(s)’s feelings.

  • 4. Use all of the above to write your story .
