What is Sequoia or a redwood tree?
Redwood trees grow in the west of the United States of America,mostly inCalifornia and Oregon. They are sometimes called Sequoia. They are the oldest living things on earth. They are often grow more than 30 meters high.The trunk of the tree has rings.One ring is for a year. One redwood trees had 3000 rings,it means it`s 3000 years old!Some of them even older. This tree is almost fireproof the bark is very tough and 15 centimeters thick. Redwoods trees help other forest trees to live through many forest fires.
Saquaro cactus
The saquaro is the giant of the cactus family. It`s height is often 16 m.
It grows very slowly. It grows about one 2 sm per year. The first branch of branch of the cactus doesn`t appear until the plant has grown to a height of 5 meters.The first flowers appear when the plant is 50-75 years old.
The largest saquaros are about 200 years old and weigh more than 908 kg.
There is the Saquaro National Monument in the state of Arizona in the USA. It takes 100years to grow it`s full 15 metr in height.
