Students get the cards with the names of the extreme sports ,move around the class and match them. There are some definitions of the extreme sports on the walls in the classroom.( Appendix1) Students check in pairs Teacher gives the answer key Teacher shows the pictures of the people who the texts are about. Students predict who those people are, what they are like( slide 2, 3) Students read the texts and match them with the titles( “Going Up”, “ Going Down”) Students check in pairs, then in plenary. Students discuss in pairs the question: “ What goals do you think the people achieved?” Check in plenary Teacher tries to elicit the vocabulary: oxygen, breathe, mighty, mental strength ( explains the words if necessary) Teacher gives model and drills the words Students read the texts again and do the task “ true-false” (appendix 2) Students check and discuss the answers in pairs. Discussion in plenary. Students watch the video about Sara “ s record Teacher changes pairs . Students discuss the questions: 1 How would you feel about diving and climbing? 2 Which person from the text do you admire more? Why? 3 Why do you think people do this kind of thing? ( slide 4) Discussion in plenary. Teacher corrects mistakes if necessary. | |
