Wait for me
Wait for me, and I'll be back,
Should you wait me strong.
Wait for me when sky is black
And the sun has gone,
Wait for me when it is cold,
And when it is hot,
Wait for me when others don't,
'Cause they just forgot.
Wait in case you don't receive
Letters from the front,
Wait, and I will outlive,
If you really want.

The Great Patriotic War has left a mark in every Russian family. Some people didn’t return from the war and their families received a death notice, others came back wounded or crippled.
Our family is not an exception. My great grandfather also took part in this terrible war.
My great grandfather Michail Ivanovich Vlasyuk (10 October, 1923 – 8 September, 1968) was born in the town Troitsk in Chelyabinsk Region. He was called up for service in the army at the age of 18 .
Michail Ivanovich fought on the Second Belarusian Front. He was a commander of a demining company. He lost his right hand because of mine clearance.
In 1944 he became a Junior Lieutenant. He finished fighting in 1944 because of a serious wound. My great grandfather was a disabled person of the Great Patriotic War.
My great grandfather went to war with his three brothers. One of them didn’t come back. In this photo you can see my great great grandmother with her 3 sons who were lucky to survive.
All the information about our soldiers is carefully kept in our family archives and in our hearts. Besides the name of my great grandfather can be found on the site “Pamyat Naroda” .
Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten…
