Данные задания предлагаются для подготовки к олимпиаде по английскому языку в 6 классе, где обучение начинается со 2-го класса, а также среди учащихся 6 классов, интересующихся английским языком.

Учащимся предлагаются 4 задания, максимальное количество баллов 40.

Четвёртое задание следует оценивать следующим образом: за каждое правильно написанное предложение ученик получает 2 балла. Если в предложении сделана негрубая ошибка, например, в правописании, то можно зачесть 1 балл.

TASK 1. Read the text.

PREDICTING THE FUTURE

In the year 2000.

In 1958 there was an exhibition about the future. There was a model called The House of the Future. The designers of the house made these predictions about the year 2000.

• Every house will have a robot slave.

• Robot slaves will do all the housework. They will press clothes, sweep floors, make beds and cook meals.

• Every bathroom will have a shower. The shower will wash and dry you, like a giant hairdryer.

• There will be televisions showing programmes in colour.

• People will communicate with each other using video telephones.

• Men and women will wear the same style of clothes (it will look like a silver spacesuit).

• People will travel around in private helicopters.

• There will be regular flights to the moon.

A group of scientists met in January 2001 and made the following predictions about the year 2050.

• It will be possible to travel in space. People will take holidays in special hotels on the moon and also on other planets.

• It will be possible to travel to other galaxies. Spaceships will travel at the speed of light.

• We will find the cure for all illnesses.

• People will live longer. It will be normal to live to be 120.

• Everyone will have a computer wristwatch. The computer will tell them everything.

• We will all live in intelligent houses. The houses will clean themselves and kitchens will cook food automatically.
