The author of the idea

History

The competition

• The same year, authorities announced a contest for the best sketches of theatrical structure. It was attended by more than 200 applicants, among whom was the renowned architect Th. Watson.
• Initially his projects were rejected. The jury was joined by Finn E. Saarinen, who was able to convince the rest of the genius ideas of Th. Watson. The project was approved in 1957, and unfolded large-scale construction.
• However, the architect did not have time to follow through. He was accused of waste of money and removed from the case. Watson left the continent and was not even present at the opening. The object was completed by other architects.

• Opera house in Sydney has its own architectural nuances. It attracts people not only by amazing performances, but because of the shape of the building, a special style. Such construction you won’t be able to see anywhere in the world.
• The length of the structure is 183m, and a width of 118 meters. The building is mounted on piles that are driven into the bottom of the Harbor. The feeling that it is right on the water. It took more than 500 concrete piles to keep the design. The roof was white, resembled scales and sparkled in the sunlight.
