Post-lesson reflection note
The lesson is based on teaching vocabulary and grammar structures. The pupils have learned the adjectives which reinforced the body parts of animal : head, leg, body, tail.
I am teaching the third grade pupils, children aged 9 years old. The class consists of 10 pupils. Almost all of them are hard - working and loving English language. Pupils have strong sense of play and fun, they also have curiosity and imagination. Most of the students are of linguistic learner type, some students represent logical and visual learning types. A group of the pupils is of interpersonal learning type.
Leading learning styles are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. In fact, it depends on the aim of the lesson. In this lesson I used all these types. While doing the first exercise the pupils are learning new words through hearing the spoken language, then they see them on the screen, after that they read and draw the unusual animal using imagination.
At the lesson I use Spotlight, Student Book/ Form 3 , Pictures cards /Word cards and CD..
At the lesson I worked with the adjectives and grammar structure «It has got».
During the presentation stage it was a Mingling game: «Find a pair.» The pupils revised the Demonstrative pronouns: this, that, those, these.the words of the previous lesson. I introduced the adjectives: small, big, thin, fat, short, long and the words: sheep and cow.I put the picture cards (small nose, big ears ,big eyes, thin legs, fat body, short tail, long tail.) on the board and by means of using word cards I read the phrases and pupils repeated after me. At the second stage pupils looked on the screen, listen and repeat after the speaker (small nose, big ears .) Then pupils learned how to pronounce new words through listening to the phrases. For the first time they listened and followed the expression, the second time they joined them.
At the practice stage students read the expression and an interesting dialogue, learn the grammatical structure «It has got », translated the phrases. This way children realized how to use them in their speech. The next task was listening to a dialogue with new vocabulary. While listening the pupils could grasp all lexical material. Then they read the sentences from the dialogue, Children drew the unusual animals and described the drawings to each other. The multi –sensory activities were used at the lesson.
The children’s reaction was positive. They took active part at the lesson. They were curious to find out new things. They really learned the words because the words were introduces by many different techniques. They really enjoyed the lesson, because this topic is very interesting for them and the pupils can use the structures they’ve learnt in the situations and describe the unusual animals from other planet developing their imagination.
I was satisfied with the lesson ,We reached our goals at the lesson.
