PLAYING WITH WORDS
I’d like to present you some kinds of funny vocabulary games on topics from textbooks. “MAD stories” is fun to play with friends, classmates in class, but you can also play it by yourself. To begin with, do not look at the story with gaps, mind only the headline. Fill in the blanks on the first page with the words called for. Then fill in the blank spaces in the story with the words you have selected on page 1. After you have completed your stories, read your stories one after the other and select the most realistic one and the most hilarious one.

Mrs Green’s Refrigerator.
This is an activity for groups of four students. Working together, the students have to work out where various fruit and vegetables are placed on different shelves in the fridge in order to find out where the carrots are. Here are the main handout and four information cards.
Task. Work in groups of four. Mrs Green is very fussy about how she lays out her display of fruit and vegetables. Each of you has a card with some information about where she puts her things. Working together fill in the names of the fruit and vegetables according to where they are on her fridge shelves. Finally you will be able to see where she has put the carrots.
(You are only allowed to read out – not show – the pieces of information you have).
