Dear Mary,

Thank you for your letter. It was great to hear from you again! Sorry I haven’t written for so

long, I was extremely busy with my exams!

(In your letter you ask me about my new school) As for my new school, it’s very big! It has three

computer rooms and wonderful sports facilities. Actually, it seems a nice place and I enjoy

studying there. The kids in my class are very friendly. I’ve already made some new friends and

we often meet after classes. I’ve got only one new subject this year. It’s Economics and I’m

beginning to think it’s not difficult, after all!

By the way, what music styles do you enjoy? Have you got any favourite bands? Would you like to

go to their concerts? As for me, I prefer Radiohead. They are cool!

I’d better go now. Mum wants me to help her with the housework.

Структура работы

1. Вступление (Introduction) содержит представление темы + собственное отношение к проблеме

Основная часть (Main Body ) - раскрытие темы

2. ваше мнение с двумя-тремя развёрнутыми аргументами

3. другая точка зрения с одним-двумя развёрнутыми аргументами

4. объяснение , почему вы не согласны (2 контраргумента)

5. Заключение - общие выводы (restate the problem).

Nowadays governments of many countries spend a lot of money on new projects or researches every year. For example, let’s take space. Great sums of money are spent on space researches nowadays . It seems to me that during the world economic crisis humanity has a great deal of other problems.

Personally I think the parliaments of different states should save money on space researches and first of all give money on solving social and environmental problems. The main reason is that there are millions of unemployed and hungry people in the world. Secondly, they live in poverty. It is ashamed So governments must provide well-paid jobs for people and social benefits for the elderly. Besides , the Earth is in danger! The most serious ecological and environmental problems are: water pollution, air pollution which causes acid rains and temperature rise or so-called “greenhouse effect” and nuclear one. Last but not least , thousands of human beings suffer from terrible diseases, such as cancer, AIDS, the flu.

But some people claim that the process of space exploration is inevitable due to the fact that population of the world is growing faster and faster and soon we will need more space for living, in the space, for example. Even more they say this brunch of industry brings good profit thanks to space tourism.

However I can not agree with this opinion. We should build recycling centers, plant trees; stop dumping industrial waste into rivers and lakes. All these requires great sums of money. To say nothing about the system of social welfare.

All in all I am of the opinion that money is worth spending on welfare of citizens and on scientific researches in social spheres of our life.
