Задачи урока:
активизировать лексический материал по теме «Поиск информации о странах» в разных видах речевой деятельности: смысловом чтении, говорении;
развивать навыки коммуникативной компетенции учащихся;
создавать условия для активного речевого взаимодействия;
прививать интерес к культуре и «географической» культуре стран мира, мотивировать учащихся к изучению английского языка, формировать чувство нравственности и толерантности.

Now, let’s guess the theme of our lesson:
Look around. I have globe, magnifier and flags of different countries. Open your books on page 84. Look information through pages 84, 85, 86 till 89. Pay attention to headlines, first sentences of paragraphs, pictures.
I have a tip for you. The key word of the theme is search.
Look! Imagine we are in the international conference. How do you think? Do we need to know the names of the countries, its capitals? Should we practice to introduce ourselves? Will it ever help in our real life? Where? (In travelling, at job, at studing…) Who knows which country is this flag? Let’s check. Can you answer this question at the end of the lesson?
What should we do at the lesson? Now you will work in pairs. Look at your work places. These are different objectives of the lesson. Choose objective for yourself and stick to our map of the lesson “We are going to…”
Work out pronunciation of continents, countries’ names and its capitals.
Read the text “Continents and countries”
Talk about the map and text.

Task 1 Look through the Reference Material and name: 3 countries in Europe, 2 countries in Asia, 2 countries in America.
Example:

Moscow is the capital of Russia.
Its flag has got white, blue and red colours.
Task 2 Could you give the name of the continent which is almost the same as the name of the country situated on it? (Australia)
What language do people speak there? ( They speak English there)
What is its capital? (Its capital is Canberra)
Find its national flag and describe it. (Australian flag looks like British flag with 5 stars on it). What do they mean? Where can you find this interesting information? (We can find new information in the library, or in the internet, or at the Geography lessons, or in the Reference Material.
