Ход урока.

Friends, my name is Mr Forbes, a Canadian journalist. I have to write an article about the English language and I want to know what people from different countries think about it.

Let me introduce my guests. They are:

-Mr Bambridge, an English historian.

-Mr Belov, a Russian translator.

-MrSwarup ,an Indian student.

-Mr Brinks ,a rich American businessman.

I would like you to take an active part in our discussion. As to me, I think that English is so popular because it is the main language in 30 countries including America. And my country is one of the biggest and the strongest countries. The USA is the world leader in science and technology. The dollar is the most popular currency in the world. The whole world eats in American restaurants. There are many rich people. etc.

Thank you, Mr Brinks! And what do you think, Mr Bambridge? As a historian I must say that English has many words from other languages. It is like many European languages and that’s why people can learn it easily. Your turn, Mr Swarup. I am from India. India is a former colony of the British Empire. Nowadays English is the second state language in my country. For us English is a must!

My country is one of the biggest and strongest countries too. English is very popular in Russia.At the moment, 80 per cent of the world’s Internet sities are in English.It is the language for travel and tourism.Music, new technologies, films make our people learn English.

Friends, everybody convinced me. Everyone agrees that without English we won’t be able to live in the modern world.Today English is a truly global language, because it belongs to everyone.
