📘 Present Continuous — Правила образования

Present Continuous описывает действие, которое происходит прямо сейчас, в момент речи. Образуется с помощью вспомогательного глагола to be + глагол с окончанием -ing.

ПРАВИЛА

📝 Правила добавления -ing

Общее правило

Глагол на -e

Просто добавляем -ing (примеры: read → reading , play → playing )

Убираем -e , добавляем -ing (примеры: make → making , write → writing )

Короткий глагол

Глагол на -ie

Удваиваем последнюю согласную + -ing (примеры: sit → sitting , run → running )

Меняем -ie на y + -ing (примеры: lie → lying , die → dying )

It is a sunny Sunday morning. The Smith family is having a wonderful time at home. Mr. Smith is sitting in his favourite armchair and is reading a newspaper. Mrs. Smith is cooking a delicious breakfast in the kitchen. She is making pancakes and is singing her favourite song.

Their daughter Lucy is playing with her cat in the garden. The cat is running and is jumping around her. Their son Tom is not playing outside — he is sitting at his desk and is drawing a picture of his family.
