To be – быть , есть

present simple –

I - am he,she,it - is you,we,they - are

• am,is,are

To be – was,were (был,были) (yesterday,last week(year),ago,on Monday,in summer)

• I – was
• He, she, it,- was
• Examples:
• I was at the circus.
• Tom was at the cinema.
• Mary was in the park.

• We, you, they – were
• examples:
• We were at the disco.
• You were at the theatre.
• They were in the park.

To be in the negative sentences . Was, were + not (wasn’t,weren’t)

• Mary was at the disco.
• Mary wasn’t (was not) at the disco.
• My friend was at school.
• My friend wasn’t at school.

• They weren’t (were not ) at home.
