Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie was a British writer who is considered one of the most famous mystery writers of all time.
She was born on September 15th, 1890, in Torquay. She got excellent home education. During World War I she worked as a hospital nurse. She liked it very much .
Career
The first published detective story was «Tne Mysterious Affair at Styles « (1920). The writer created over 40 novels featuring Hercule Poirot, the readers liked him very much, but Christie hadn’t great love for her own creation. She created another great detective – Miss Marple, which she liked much more.

Christie has published more than 60 detective novels, six psychological novels, and 19 collections of short stories. Sixteen of her plays were staged in London.
Her works
The most famous works of Agatha Christie include «The Ten Negroes», «Murder on the Orient Express», «Poirot leads the investigation», «Tne Man in the Brown Suit» and many others .
Last years of her life
In 1965, Agatha Christie finished her autobiography, which she ended with the following words:
«Thank you, God, for my good life and for all the love that has been bestowed on me.»
From 1971 onwards, Christie’a health began to deteriorate but she continued to write .
The life of the «queen of detectives» came to an end on 12 January 1976. Christie died at home in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. She was 85 years old. The cause of death was complications from a cold. She was buried in St Mary’s Cemetery , Cholsey.
