Future Simple – will + V1
- For decisions made at the moment of speaking
(It is raining outside. I will take my umbrella.)
2. For future predictions about what we think or believe will happen. (I think you will get a good mark.)
3. For promises, threats, hopes, requests, offers.
( Will you help me with my computer?)
4. For actions / events which will definitely happen in the future.
(You will write a test in English on the 5 th of December.)
Note!
After think / believe / hope / promise / probably we use Future Simple.
We use these words with the Future Simple: tomorrow / the day after tomorrow / tonight / soon / next week / in a week / next month / in a month / next year / in a year
Be going to
- For predictions based on what we know or what we can see.
(The score is 4:1. Zenith is going to win. )
- For future plans, intentions, ambitions.
(I am going to go to the sea in summer.)
Choose the Future Simple or ‘to be going to’.

Future Continuous – will be V-ing / Future Perfect – will have V3
Future Continuous - for actions which will be in progress at a certain time in the future. ( This time tomorrow I will be teaching my pupils.)
Future Perfect – for actions which will have finished at a certain time in the future. ( By this time tomorrow you will have had breakfast.)
Put the verb into the Future Continuous or the Future Perfect.
- He ______________ (come) home by 7 o’clock tomorrow.
- He won’t come to your party next week. He ______________ (work) at this time.

Future Perfect Continuous – will have been V-ing
- To stress the duration of an action up to a certain time in the future. ( By this time next week we will have been working on the 4 th module for 2 weeks. )
- Put the verb into the correct form the Future Continuous or the Future Perfect Continuous
- At this time tomorrow he _________________ (fly) to London.
- By this time tomorrow he ___________________(fly) to London for three hours.

Present Continuous – be + V-ing / Present Simple V1
- Present Continuous is used for fixed arrangements in the near future. (I am meeting my friend tomorrow morning.)
- Present Simple is used for timetables. (The lesson starts at 9 o’clock.)
- Put the verb into the Present Simple or the Present Continuous.
- The football match ___________ (begin) at 6 o’clock.
- We ___________ (go) to the football match tomorrow. We have already bought tickets.
- Ex. 1b p. 62 identify the verb forms and say why they are used.
Keys (ex.1a, p.62):
1. Am entering – Present Continuous for fixed arrangements in the near future.
2. Starts – Present Simple for timetables
3. Finishes - Present Simple for timetables
4. Am going to give – ‘be going to’ for future plans or intentions
5. Will be working – Future Continuous for actions that will be in progress at a certain time in the future.
6. Will be – Future Simple for future predictions about what we think / believe will happen.
7. Will have had – Future Perfect for actions which will have finished at a certain time in the future.
8. Will have been working – Future Perfect Progressive for duration of an action up to a certain point in the future.

- Jane is going swimming and visiting her grandparents at the weekend. Her ambition is to be an actress and she hopes to be very famous. She is worried that she won’t see her friends and family because she will be very busy.

Time Clauses
Note!
- In time clauses we use the verbs in the Present Simple or the Present Perfect .
- In these sentences we use: while / before / after / till / until / as / when / whenever / once / as soon as / as long as / by the time etc.
E.g.
- By the time we get there the film will have started .
- When I do my homework, I will go for a walk.

Clauses of purpose. The linkers we use in the clauses of purpose: Ex 9
- To / in order to / so as to + Infinitive - чтобы что-либо сделать в настоящем
- So that + can / will - чтобы сделать что-то (в значении настоящего или будущего)
- So that + could / would - чтобы сделать что-то (в значении прошлого)
- With the view to / with the aim of + ing form – с целью…
- In case + V1 – In case it rains. (На случай дождя)
E.g.
- He is running to / so as to / in order to catch the bus. (Он бежит, чтобы успеть на автобус)
- He will work hard so that he will get a pay rise. (Он будет работать усердно, чтобы получить повышение зарплаты)
- He joined a gym so that he could / would become fitter. (Он стал ходить в спортзал, чтобы стать крепче.)

We use:
- such that (такой что) / so that (так что); (and) as a result (в результате) , (and) as a consequence (как следствие) (официально), so (поэтому) , therefore (поэтому) etc.
- This is such an interesting game that all students want to play it.
(Это такая интересная игра, что все ученики хотят в неё поиграть.)
- The music played so loudly that I couldn’t slip.
(Музыка играла так громко, что я не мог спать.)
