My favourite holiday

I know there are a lot of holidays in Russia.

My favourite holiday is New Year’s Day.

This holiday is celebrated on the 31 of January. It is a family holiday.

My parents and I prepare for it beforehand. We buy and make presents.

We put up a New Year tree. Then we decorate the tree with coloured lights, toys and sweets. We put presents under the tree. I like the spirit of this holiday.

At ten minutes to midnight we listen to the President's speech.

We wish each other a “Happy New Year!” and exchange presents. I admire my presents.

I like to get books, CDs, cosmetics and toys.

After that we have the New Year meal, listen to music, dance, sing songs, play different games and laugh. I like to go for a walk, make fireworks and play snowballs.

It is fantastic!
