What Makes a Holiday?
A holiday is a time to travel, rest, and have fun with family or friends. People may go to the beach, the mountains, the city, the countryside, or stay at home.

Exploring the Mountains
We went to the mountains in summer. My dad and I walked along a path and looked at the trees. The air was cool, and we enjoyed the beautiful view.
I visited the city with my aunt and saw a museum. Later, we stayed at a campsite and played outside. We took photos, talked, and had a busy, happy day.
I went to the beach with my family. We swam, played in the sand, and ate ice cream. The sun was bright, and we took photos by the water.
3
Useful Holiday Words
Time and People
Words like yesterday, last week, and in summer help tell when a holiday happened. You can also say who went with you: mum, dad, friends, or grandparents.
Ways to Travel
Transport words make your sentence clearer. Say by car, by bus, by plane, or by train. For example: I visited my grandparents last week by train.

How to Talk About a Holiday
Use a simple sentence pattern to share where you went, who you were with, and what it was like.
5
Match Sentences and Pictures
Stay at Home
Read the sentence carefully and look for a picture of home. Match it to the correct image before moving on.
Go to the Mountains
Find the picture with hills or tall rocks. The sentence tells you the place, so choose the mountain scene.
Visit a Cousin
Look for a family picture and match it with the sentence about a cousin. The important clue is the person, not the place.
Rainy Weather
Some pictures show the weather, not the place. Match rainy with the correct image and check the sky or umbrella details.
Travel by Train
Find the picture with the train. Then match it to the sentence about travel and make sure the transport word fits.
