Volleyball

ВОЛЕЙБОЛ (англ. volley ball), командная спортивная игра с мячом на площадке 9 х 18 м, разделенной пополам сеткой (на высоте 2,43 м для мужских и 2,24 м для женских соревнований). Играющие стремятся ударами рук по мячу приземлить его на половине соперника. Зародился в США (1895). В программе Олимпийских игр с 1964, чемпионаты мира с 1949, Европы с 1948.

Приоритет изобретения волейбола принадлежит Уильяму Моргану (1872-1940), преподавателю физического воспитания колледжа YMCA (Ассоциация молодых христиан) в городе Холиоке (штат Массачусетс, США). В 1895 он придумал игру руками с мячом через сетку и назвал ее «минтонетт». Год спустя игра демонстрировалась в Спрингфилде на конференции руководителей физического воспитания YMCA, где она получила новое название — волейбол.

Rules of the Game

• 2.The server may hit the ball with his hand or any part of the arm.
• 3.He must release the ball from his other hand before hitting it.
• 4.Players must not touch the net.

We` d like to tell you about an interesting game volleyball. The sport appeared in 1895. The game was invented by W. Morgan and called “Mintonett”.

Six players can play the game . It is for both men and women. A net and a ball are necessary for the game. The sportsmen wear clothes of different colours. The sportsmen hit the ball with their hands or arms, throw the ball to the other side of the net. They must be strong, fast and skillful.
