Методический комментарий

Данное внеклассное мероприятие рассчитано на обучающихся в 4 классе. Мероприятие рассчитано на 45 минут. Задания могут выполняться как индивидуально, так и в малых группах (3-4 человека) или в одной учебной группе.

Цель: совершенствование навыков устной речи, чтения, восприятия и понимания иноязычной речи на слух, письменной речи по теме «Времена года и погода».

Задачи:

общеобразовательная

  • побуждать учащихся к активному участию в познании окружающего мира;

  • формировать положительную мотивацию к изучению иностранного языка;

  • совершенствовать навыки восприятия и понимания иноязычной речи на слух, диалогической и монологической речи, активизация фонетических и грамматических навыков;

развивающая

  • способствовать интеллектуальному и культурному росту;

  • развивать навыки индивидуальной и/или групповой работы;

  • развивать способности к догадке, сообразительности;

воспитательная

  • воспитывать чувство уважения к иностранной культуре и языку, к природе и окружающей среде;

  • воспитывать чувство ответственности.

Ход мероприятия

Good morning, boys and girls. I’m very glad to see you again. I hope you are fine.

Today we’ll have a competition on the topic ‘Seasons and Weather’. We are going to speak about spring, summer, autumn and winter and to recite poems. Let’s divide into 2 teams.

Task 1 – Sounds

Let’s play with English sounds:

[ˈɔːtəm], [ˈwɪndi], [kəʊld], [dɪˈsɛmbə], [ʤu(ː)ˈlaɪ], [ˈsiːzn], [ˈɔːgəst], [ˈʤænjʊəri], [ˈsʌmə], [sprɪŋ], [hɒt], [nəʊˈvɛmbə].

Task 2 – True or False (listening)

Listen to the text and find out which sentences are true and which sentences are false.

It is already Sunday. The weather is fine today. We cannot see any clouds in the sky. Mother, sister and I are going to the wood. It is so wonderful to walk in the wood when it’s warm and sunny.

I like to have picnics on the grass and sing merry songs about summer.

  1. The weather is awful today (F).

  2. There are no clouds in the sky (T).

  3. Molly and her family are going to the park (F).

  4. The girl doesn’t like to walk in sunny weather (F).

  5. Molly likes to sing songs about spring time (F).

Task 3 – Answer the questions

  4. What are the names of winter months? (December, January, February)

  5. What’s the weather like today?

  6. How many months are there in a year? (12)

  7. What is the hottest season? (Summer)

  9. What season comes after winter? (Spring)

  10. What are summer months? (June, July, August)

Task 4 – describe the pictures on the blackboard (pictures with different weather).

Task 5 – Riddles

Listen to the poems and name the season.

Now it’s your turn to recite poems about nature and seasons. Who is ready?

  1. Ten red apples on a tree

Five for you and five for me.

White are the clouds

As they slowly pass.



  1. Black are the clouds.

Brown are the trees.

Red are the sails

Of the ship in breeze.



  1. Spring, spring, spring!

The trees are green.

Blue skies are seen.

All the birds sing.



  1. Autumn, autumn, autumn!

The summer is over.

The trees are bare.

There is mist in the garden

And frost in the air.



  1. Winter, winter, winter!

The snow is falling.

The wind is blowing.

The ground is white

All day and all night.



  1. In the winter time we go

Walking in the field of snow

Where there is no grass at all

Where the top on every wall.

Every fence and every tree

Is as white as white can be.

The sun is shining,

The flowers are blooming,

The sky is blue,

The rains are few.

Task 8 – Months

You have learnt many poems about seasons and nature. Now we’ll write the names of the season months.

You’ll go to the blackboard one by one. At first we’ll remember the names of winter months, then spring, summer and autumn months.

Task 9 – Sentences

Make up sentences and write them down:

  1. day / like / on / winter / a / play / in / children / sunny / snowballs / to.

  2. year / are / a / twelve / there / in / months.

  3. three / season / a / there / in / months / are.

  4. skate / winter / friend / in / my / to / and / likes / ski.

Do the crossword puzzle. Find 10 words on the topic ‘Seasons and Weather’.
