Ход урока:

1. Орг момент. Приветствие.

Hello to everybody! Glad to see you. How are you? You look nice today!

Look out of the window! What is the weather like today? What date is it today?

Today we are going to have a competition-lesson. Look at the screen! What is it? What number is it? 50. Right. What are these? The stars! What can you say about 50 stars? Where can you see them? There are 50 stars on the American flag. 50 stars mean 50 states, 13 stripes mean 13 colonies.

What will we speak about today? The USA.

2.Фонетическая зарядка:

I want you to listen to a very nice country song “This land is your land” .You know it’s an unofficial hymn of America. Listen and sing it together.

SONG. Thank you.

3. So as I have already said today we are going to have a competition ”Who knows the USA better?” Let’s divide into 3 teams. Choose the captains. Come here and choose your names: sunny, stars, friends. You will have 5 tasks. For each right answer you’ll get a star.

Let’s begin! I want you just to train( разминка). Give me the English variants quickly:

Северная Америка, Гавайские острова, Тихий океан, зеленые луга, скалистые горы, песчаные пляжи, небоскребы, 50 штатов,5 Авеню, знамениты ресторанами, Статуя Свободы.

1. The USA is a large country in South America.

2. It’s neighbours are Canada in the east, and Mexico in the north.

3. The highest mountains are the Rocky M.

4. The longest river is the Colorado.

5. 500 mil. people live in the US.

6. There are 55 states in the country.

7. The smallest state is Texas.

8. The capital of the US is New York

9. Washington DC is situated on the banks of the Potomac river.

10. Manhattan is a very important business part of New York

11. The biggest city is Chicago.

12. Fifth Avenue is famous for it’s shops.

13. Chinatown and Italy are famous for their restaurants.

14. Washington is a city of skyscrapers.

15. The Statue of Liberty is a famous symbol of the US.

Finally we have come to the last task: you are to do a project.

I want you to make small route books for tourists. There will be the geography of the USA, States and cities and New York. I’ll give you pictures and paper. Choose the pictures you need, stick the pictures to the sheets of paper and be ready to protect your projects. Count your stars.
