John: Excuse me. Do you speak English?

Ann: Yes a little.

John: My name is John Miller. I am an

Australian, from Canberra.

Ann: Nice to meet you. My name is Ann.

I am from Russia, from the city of Belaya

Kalitva.

John: Nice to meet you too.It`s my first visit to

your city. I like it very much. And I want to know

about it as much as possible. Could you help me?

Ann: I’d like to help you. But I know a little. I am

very sorry.

John: It’s a pity. But what are we doing?

Ann: Doesn’t matter. I go to school. And it is a

very interesting lesson in my school today. To my

mind the topic of this lesson is “The city of

Belaya Kalitva”.

John: It’s great!

Ann: Let’s go to my school!

John: Let’s go!

Teacher: Good morning. You are a welcome. You may sit down and listen to information about our city.

(Обращаюсь к классу)

My dear friends! I would like you to join me in the unique journey along the blessed Don Land. This Land, abundant with flowers, full of bright colors of its vegetation world, gives you wonderful dawns and sunsets. And, what’s more important gives birth to talented outstanding heroes. Our way today goes to the city of Belaya Kalitva, to our beautiful Motherland. At first I want to introduce your new teacher. And I wish you good work today.

Teacher: Good morning. My name is Negramotnowa Marina

Sergeewna. I am your new English teacher and it’s time to

begin our lesson. Today we’ll talk about the city of B.K. I live

here. It’s my home and I am very proud of it. And you? Today

we speak about it

(Показ отрывка из фильма «К 300-летию города Белая

Калитва». Звучит песня «Там, где речка как сабля…»).

Teacher: So, the topic of our lesson is the History of the city and

Nowadays. At first you must give me more information about

the history of the city. The lesson begins.

(Идёт просмотр презентации на компьютере).

Выступают участники 1-3.

№1: You know that the city of B.K. is believed to have been

founded 1703, after Cossacks Nikitin, Yermolayev, Dorogalsky

obtained for the community Peter the Greatest permission to the

settle along the bank of the Kalitva.

№2: The new settlement consists of 4 parts: Nizovka, Bugor,

Zayarovka and Maidan.

№3: Maidan was the center of Stanitsa Ust-Belokalitvinskaya

It had a church primary school, a number of shops and the seat

of local administration.

John: It’s very interesting. And I heard about the famous place in

your city called Karaul Gora or Watch Hill. But why it’s called

so, I don’t know.

№4: I know. this hill often used by the citizens as a vantage

point for enjoying the breath taking panorama of B. Kalitva. this

104, 8 meter high.

№5: And I know that in olden times sentries were posted here to

scan the vast expanse around for any sign of the enemy orders.

John: Great. And has B. K. got some nature sights?

№6: Of course yes. Here belong the Avilov mountain range.

They have been named after Avila, a man who lived in a cave.

Some say he was a robber, a monk and a healer.

№7: There are any others mountains in the city for example The

Two Sisters the two (sister) hills are like two sisters. As for I

know they were first called Sinenkiye, the Blue hills .Some

Cossacks called them Nadbrovya, because of their likeness to

the synepciliary part of forehead and Grebenniye the height of

two sisters is 112 and 116 meters.

John: Thank you very much for this information. It was very

interesting. But I have no time. I must be in hurry. Thanks once

more, good bye.

Teacher: Good bye. And we continue our lesson. I`ve prepared

a quiz for you. You must do it in 5 minutes.

Teacher: It’s time to check your homework in groups. Your

( Группам выдаются таблицы оценивания сообщений, где

учащиеся одной группы, во-первых, оценивают сообщение

другой группы и, во-вторых, ставят оценку своей группе).

1. The first information is about the industry of the city.

2. The second – the system of public health care.

3. The third – the public education.

4. The fourth – the city’s culture.

5. The fifth – the administration.

6. The sixth – the Hill of immortal glory.

4. Закрепление материала (тестирование).

Teacher: Thanks a lot for your interesting information. And

now we are doing some tests to your home reading.

5. Подведение итогов.

Teacher: I want to tell you thank you very much for your great

work today. You are wonderful actors and you know everything

about your native city. Your marks are only five today. I see you

are rightly proud of our Motherland and honor its traditions so,

as we everybody too. Listen to a poem “The Don land glorious

history”.

(Звучит стихотворение « Славная история Донского

края…»).

Teacher: At the end I tell you one Cossack’s commandment:

“Love all that your Motherland’s boundless steppes have

infused in your flesh and blood.”

(Люби всё, что с ранних лет ты впитал в кровь
