Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving, being a harvest festival is symbolized by various crops and grains especially the corncob which is an important symbol of the festival. Along with the corncob, there are ripe yellow pumpkins and other fruits that represent the fruits of agriculture.

The Turkey is another popular symbol of the festival. It is not very clear how this quaint looking fowl, landed up as an indispensable dish for the thanksgiving dinner but the fact remains, that the turkey is the most important part of the Thanksgiving feasts. A Thanksgiving feast is never considered to be complete without a turkey in the main course nor is any celebration without a Turkey song.

In Thanksgiving, people celebrate the abundance of crops and another symbol that is inexorably linked with the festival is Cornucopia or the mythical Horn of Plenty. People decorate their tables with a horn-shaped baskets filled fruits and usually a pumpkin too.
