The Heart

The Heart

• The heart is a muscular organ in humans and other animals.
• The heart consists of two atriums and two ventricles.
• The pulmonary artery leaves the right ventricle. The aorta leaves the left ventricle.
• Superior and inferiors veins … in right atrium.

Our pulse

• Our pulse is about 70 beats per minute.
• After heavy exercises the heart works faster and then the pulse will be faster too, perhaps 100 beats.
• After a minute or two the pulse will be normal again.

The blood

• About 5 litres of blood fill our arteries, veins and capillaries.
• Arteries carry blood from the heart.
• Veins carry blood to the heart.

The blood consists of

• Blood has red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma.
• Red blood cells are called erythrocytes. White blood cells are called leucocytes.
• Also the blood includes colorless cells. They are called platelets.

It is interesting to know

• Heart makes 100 thousand beats per day and almost 40 million beats during the year.

• During the life the human heart throw out so much blood into the aorta that it could fill a channel length of 5 km.

• The heart begins to beat in the fourth week after impregnation and does not stop until the human dies.
