Abai reading

The aims of competition:

• To enlarge pupils’ knowledge in Literature.
• To educate the respect and interest in Abai’s compositions.
• To develop pupils’ abilities in reciting
• To develop memory and attention

The plan of the extra-curricular activity:

1. Opening ceremony of the competition.
2. Warm-up. Doing crosswords.
3. Some facts from Abai’s biography.
4. Reciters’ competition.
5. Game “Polyglot”
6. Conclusion. Rewarding of the best reciters.

1^st presenter: Dear friends! We are glad to see you at our poetry party “Abai reading”.

It is the competition of reciters of Abai’s poems.

2^nd presenter: Dear participants, come to the table and determine your order in which you will come up to the stage please.

1^st presenter: Let me introduce our jury:….

2^nd presenter: Dear guests of our party! Do you know English well? First, we want to check your English. Let’s do some crosswords.

1^st presenter: We say the words in Kazakh and you will give the equivalents of them. Listen to me please. The fist word is «белсенді» (?демілік, ж?лдыз, кинотеатр.)

1^st presenter: Well done! Your English is good! Now look at the crosswords, and read the main word which we have taken.

Children: Abai

2^nd presenter: As you know, our party is dedicated to the greatest poet of our country Abai Kunanbaev. Let’s listen to our speakers. They will say some words about the poet’s biography.

1^st presenter: Attention! Attention! We begin our competition. Our participants will recite the poems which were written by Abay Kunanbaev. Let’s listen to them and find the best recite. The first participants is…….(etc.)

2^nd presenter: We thank our reciters. We hope that you get some useful facts about the greatest poet Abay Kunanbaev. The poetry of Abay is melodic and mysterious. He was well-read and knew thousands of lines by heart.

1^st presenter: he read books in Arabic, Farci, old Chagatay and Russian. Abay was interested in philosophy. His erudition in this field was fundamental.

2^nd presenter: While our jury determine the best recite we play the game “polyglot”. Look at the screen and read the passage from Abai’s poems.

1^st presenter: You should find the missing word and say it in Kazakh, in Russian, in English.
