Environmental Problems.

Nowadays people understand how important it is to solve the environmental problems that endanger people’s lives. The most serious environmental problems are: 1.water, air and nuclear pollution; 2. noise from cars, buses, planes; 3.destruction of wildlife and countryside beauty; 4.shortage of natural resources; 5. the growth of population. There is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump. Many seas are used for dumping industrial and nuclear waste. Britain alone dumps tons of industrial waste straight into the North Sea. This poisons and kills fish and sea animals. Poisoned fish can be eaten by people. Many rivers and lakes are poisoned too. Fish and reptiles can’t live in them. If people drink such water they can get ill or even die. It happens so because factories and plants produce a lot of waste and pour it into rivers. So water becomes dirty and poisoned . Most of air pollution comes from cars and buses.More and more people are told not to spend too much time in direct sunlight, because ultraviolet radiation from the sun can cause skin cancer. It happens because of holes in the ozone layer which protects us from radiation.

Another problem is nuclear power stations which can go wrong and cause nuclear pollution. Nuclear pollution cannot be seen but its effects can be terrible. To make air clean we need filters at nuclear power stations, at factories and plants, in cars and buses.

If people want to survive they must solve these problems quickly.
