Тип урока: комбинированный

Цель урока: обобщить, закрепить и систематизировать знания, умения и навыки по теме «Fashion»

Задачи урока:

• Образовательные: совершенствовать умения и навыки практического владения английским языком по данной теме; активизировать ранее изученную лексику по теме «Fashion» в устной речи; развивать навыки говорения по теме, способствовать расширению словарного запаса; совершенствовать грамматические навыки сослагательного наклонения.

• Развивающие: развивать умение работать в паре, способствовать умению выражать мысли; развивать интеллектуальные способности учащихся; формировать умение выделять главное, сравнивать и анализировать.

• Воспитательные: формировать культуру общения, воспитывать инициативность, активность, умение работать в парах, развивать у учащихся самостоятельность мышления, формировать потребности в практическом использовании языка.

Оборудование урока: доска, мультимедийное оборудование (проектор, интерактивная доска), презентация, карточки.

1. Орг.момент

T: Good morning, dear children and our guests! I am very glad to see you! And I hope our guests will have an enjoyable time with us. You may sit down.

T: Now look at the board, please, and try to guess what we are going to talk about today.  
What is the topic of our lesson?        

P: Fashion.

P: Clothes.

P: Styles.                         
T: You are right. It’s fashion and all that concerns it. And the aim of our lesson is to revise all words about clothes and fashion and decide if fashion is important for you or not.

T: But before our work let’s train our tongues. Look at the board, there is a tongue-twister for you. I will read it first. Listen to me carefully.

Casual clothes are provisional for leisurely trips across Asia.

1. Why do we need clothes?

P: Clothes protect our body from heat and cold.

P: Clothes protect the body from cuts, from injuries and from the sun.

1. Why do people spend lots of money on clothes?

P: They love clothes and love shopping. People like brands, so the clothes they buy are quite expensive.

P: Sometimes people buy brand name clothes because they want to be accepted by their friends especially teens.

P: To look attractive!

1. Are you interested in fashion?

P: No, I am not interested in fashion. I think it is not important for us.

P: Yes, I am interested in fashion because it is interesting.

1. Do your clothes influence your mood? Do your clothes reflect your personality?

P: Many times we get dressed according to our states of mind, but we really don't realize it.

1. Do you think clothes are a waste of money?

P: It is a waste of money if people buy a lot of expensive clothes they really do not need.

T: Thank you, children! And now look at board again. There are some proverbs about clothes. Let’s read them first.

• Good clothes open all doors.

• Clothes do not make the man.

• A good dress is a card of invitation, a good mind is a letter of recommendation.

• Fine dress helps to impress.

• Fine feathers make a fine bird.

T: And what is the Russian equivalent of all these proverbs? What do you think?

P: По одежке встречают, а провожают по уму.

T: Absolutely right! And what can you say about it? Do you agree or disagree? What is your opinion?

P: I agree with these sayings because the first impressions are very important.
P: I think they mean the better a person is dressed; the better people will treat him.
P: I agree because it can help to become successful
P: And I think that who you are is more important than your clothes.

T: I also agree with you, children. I think that we shouldn’t be dressed according to the latest fashion but neglecting attitude to our appearance won’t help us to gain a success.

T: And now let’s do some exercises. And your first task is to complete sentences using as much words as you can.

T: Good job! Now let’s look at the difference between the following verbs: fit, suit, match, try on, go with, wear. Please, match the verbs and their meanings.

To fit – to be the right shape or size for sth/sb
To suit – to make you look attractive
To match, to go with  – to combine well
To try on – to put a piece of clothing to see if it fits and how it looks
To wear – to have sth on your body as a piece of clothing

T: Well done! And now I will give you some cards with the task. You should complete sentences using these verbs. Be careful, use the correct form of words.

1. A: How about those trousers? They … you perfectly.

B: Yes, but they're too casual for the occasion.

2. A: What about the red shirt? It ... your trousers.

B: You are right! I haven't ... it for ages.

3. A: This dress is great. Why don't you … it on?

B: The colour doesn't … me.

T: Thank you! You said that fashion isn’t important for you, but tastes differ. You know, there are people who love fashion and can’t imagine their life without it, there are people who hate fashion and there people who are indifferent. And now we will listen to some people’s opinions about this question. And your task is to answer two questions:

1. Do they care what they wear?

2. Is fashion important for all of them?

Tracey:

P: Yes, she enjoys wearing trendy clothes. She likes to look cool and attractive.

P: Yes, it is very important for her to know what is in fashion at the present moment.

Phil:

P: No, he doesn’t care what he wears. And he doesn’t care what other people care too. His mum buys clothes for him.

P: No, he prefers casual clothes – jeans and t-shirts.

Katya:

P: Yes, she cares, but looking clean and decent is more important for her than looking trendy.

P: Fashion isn’t very important for her. It comes and goes. You must feel good in what you wear and that is all.

T: Which of the teenagers’ opinions do you share? Who do you agree with?

P: I agree with Tracey because I like fashionable clothes.

P: I agree with Phil. I think it doesn’t matter what other people wear. And I don’t care what to wear too.

P: I agree with Katya. I support the idea that looking claen and decent is more important.

T: Now it’s high time to revise some grammar material. What have we learnt on our last lesson?

P: Second conditional.

T: Yes, second conditional. Who can remember the rule?

P: Мы используем сослагательное наклонение, когда говорим о действиях или событиях, которые могли бы произойти в настоящем или будущем.

P: В придаточном предложении с союзом if используется Past Simple, в главном предложении используется would + инфинитив смыслового глагола.

T: Great! And now try to finish my sentences:

T: Well done, children! Now let’s work in pairs. Your task is to make up sentences. I will give you cards with the words and you should make up questions and answers. And two pupils will work on the board.

1. What would you wear if you were interviewed by a TV show?

If I were interviewed by a TV show I would wear a suit.

If I went to school I would wear a school uniform.
