| Warm-up: Student play the “Hot seat” game to revise vocabulary connected with “family” lexical set. The class is divided into 2 teams. One student from each team sits back to the board. The teacher writes a word (e.g. grandfather), students should explain the word to the students who are sitting back to the board. The students who identifies the word first, receives a point. The team that has got more points is the winner. Teacher presents learning and lesson objectives Pre-reading activity: Students look at the picture and try to predict what the text is about. Students should use the following phrases to give opinion: I think this text is about … because … In my opinion, it’s about … I guess the text is about … Then, they skim the text and check if their predictions are correct or not. While-reading activity: (I, P, W) Students read the text and answer the questions. Then students compare their answers in pairs. When students discuss the answers as a whole class, they should give evidence from the text to prove their answers. Post-reading activity: (G) Students discuss the following questions in small groups: Who is a special person in your family? Why? What qualities of your special person do you want to have/inherit? Why? Writing activity: Students should write about a special person in their family. They should include the following information: Who is a special person in your family? What qualities does this person have? What qualities do you want to inherit from this person? Assessment criteria: Write 5-6 sentences with necessary information. Use topic related vocabulary accurately. |
