The Stone Age.
Otzi was from the Stone Age. It‘s called the Stone Age, of course, because people used stone to make tools and weapons. they also used wood and animal
bones. At first, people just picked these things up when they found them. In fact,
some animals do the same thing. Chimpanzees, for example, use sticks to get
insects out of holes.
Archaeologists usually divide the Stone Age into the Old Stone Age and the New Stone Age. In the Old Stone Age people didn‘t live in one place all the time.
They followed animals and hunted them. Then, around 4000 BC people in the
Middle East discovered farming. They grew their own corn in fields, and they kept
their own animals - cows, sheep and goats. Now they didn’t need to follow the
animals, so they started to build villages and towns.
