The name Canada is believed to come from

the Indian word Kanata, meaning ‘”village” or

” community”.

This fact alone shows that the native population

of the country consisted mostly of Indian tribes.

The population of Canada is over 30 million, about 80% of which live in the south.

About three quarters of population live in towns and cities.
