The Capitol Building, whose cornerstone was laid in 1793 by then President George Washington, is the symbol of American government.

Deemed as one of the most stately buildings in the world, it is constructed of Massachusetts marble and Virginia sandstone, with a cast iron dome to complete the building. Completed in 1865 by Constantino Brumidi, the Frescoe covers the 4, 664 square feet inside the dome of the Capitol Building.
