Life is short, art is infinite!

• Hippocrates wanted to say that the whole life is not enough to understand the great science. This set expression means that the art is more durable than the life is.
• And therefore the person who creates the work of art is alive forever in the memory of grateful new generations.

Therefore, the English film has a rather complicated history of development. Almost for the half a century the British film called "doz" and its development has been rather slowly, if to compare it with the rate in the Hollywood. However, the English cinema gave the world a lot of the masterpieces of film art and film stars.

William Fields

History of the English cinema began with the name of William Fields. His apparatus for shooting movies was called "Bioscope". In 1897 appeared his first short and very simple films: "New servant", "Children's tea", "Bill-carrier". In 1898 in London U.Pol built his first studio.

Alfred Hitchcock

In 1926 in the history of British cinema appeared the bright name - Alfred Hitchcock. By the mid-30s of the 20th century he became a famous master of detective. Hitchcock was a master of intrigue.

Agatha christie-queen of detective

• Agatha Christie's works, their characters - Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple - are loved by audiences all over the world even today.

The British cinema history marked by the same creators and discoverers as in other European countries and the United States. In the early twentieth century British photographer William Green worked on the camera

Léon Gaumont

• Léon Gaumont and Charles Pathé (France) at the same time created their own production companies in 1909 and flooded the European, including English, film market.

Alexander Korda

In 1913, the British film industry has suffered the first American invasion. In the 30-es, Alexander Korda , the founder of the production company "Films of London" came to England from Hollywood, and created here one of the best studios of its time.

In the mid-30-es there was second invasion of the American film industry to the Great Britain. Leading US film company MGM, Warner, Radio, 20th Century Fox established a film production in the UK. It was a period of classic films. "Citadel", "Pygmalion», «The man who knew too much», «Sabotage" are a model for directors of all generations.

The Second World War changed the face of British. Most of the films of this period related to the war: "The stars look down", "49th Parallel", "Convoy".

Sir Charles Spencer (Charlie) Chaplin American and English film actor, screenwriter, composer and film director, a universal master of cinema, the creator of one of the most famous images of world cinema. Chaplin has used techniques of mummery and buffoonery

• Since April 1914 Chaplin began to act as a director and author of the script most of the films with his own participation, since 1916 he also produced the movie, and in 1918 - wrote the music.

Alfred Hitchcock

• Alfred Hitchcock once said, "The film - a life which removed the boredom spots". Indeed, a good movie is fascinating, surprising thing, it raises many questions in a person's life. Often the film shows us the perfect life. Movie changes us for the better on the way to the ideal.
