To revise the names of food, countable /uncountable nouns

Shows pictures of food, asks pupils to divide them into two groups and put on the blackboard

In turns name the pictures and put them on the blackboard in two groups

Presentation

To present the grammar structure

Shows a slide of presentation and tells about three brothers giants who like to eat (Slide 1), reads the sentences aloud, asks to translate the sentences to check the understanding of meaning of the words ‘much, many’

Listen to the teacher and look at the board, translate the sentences

Children already know the word ‘a lot of’, and guess the meaning of ‘much, many’


To discover the rule

Asks to analyze the sentences and see the different and the common forms of the words

Make a supposition about the use of ‘much’ before uncountable nouns, ‘many’ before countable nouns, ‘a lot of’ before both groups of words; the use of ‘much, many’ in negative and interrogative sentences and ‘a lot of’ in affirmative ones

Teacher can help pupils understand the rule with leading questions and hints

- Look at the pictures and answer the questions using the new grammar structure
