Christmas gifts
Gifts wrapped up in the Christmas paper
Sitting round the tree so bright
Children fast asleep in bed
As Santa comes tonight.
Christmas windows Tinsel round the windows bright Pink, orange, red and white! Glittering in the evening light Oh, such a lovely sight!
Christmas is a lovely time The snow lies white and thick Mistletoe is hard to find And holly hard to pick!
Father Christmas (Santa Claus)
At night Santa Claus comes with his sack of presents from the North Pole on his flying sleigh, pulled by his 8 reindeer.
On the eve of the Christmas children hang their stockings so that Santa Claus could put presents into them. But if the child didn`t behave properly Santa Claus can put there a piece of coal as punishment .
British children put mince pies and milk for Father Christmas and carrots for his reindeer.
Christmas Tree
Every year the
people of
Norway give a
present. It`s a
big Christmas
tree and it
stands in
Trafalgar
Square.
The Christmas trees are always decorated with candles, many bells, baubles, tinsel and small toys.
The British decorate the top of the tree with a star or an angel .
The giving of presents is the most important Christmas tradition. Family members wrap up their gifts and put them around the tree to be found on Christmas morning.
At Christmas everyone decorates their houses with holly and mistletoe.
Holly is a green plant with red berries.
Mistletoe is a green
plant with white berries.
People often hang holly or mistletoe wreaths on the front doors.
It`s a Christmas tradition for British people to kiss their friends and family under the mistletoe.
Carols

go from house to
house. They
collect money for
charity and sing
carols , traditional
Christmas songs .
Christmas is a family holiday. Many people are travelling home to be with their families. On Christmas Day the family will sit down to a big turkey dinner followed by Christmas pudding.
For dessert English people have Christmas pudding . Real Christmas pudding always has a piece of holly on the top. The British put a silver coin in it. It brings good luck to a person who finds it.
The Christmas dinner ends with m ince pies
Every English family sends and receives many Christmas Cards.
