The Importance of Breaking News and How to Stay Informed
The world is constantly changing and keeping up to date with the latest news and events is more important now than ever before. Whether it's politics, entertainment, or global events, the latest news has the power to shape our opinions and influence our daily lives. Breaking news is information that is of direct importance to the public. Breaking news is often unexpected and requires urgent attention.
But with so many sources of information, it may not be easy to keep track of everything that happens in real time. How to stay informed in today's rapidly changing digital world?
Here are some ways to stay informed:
Follow reliable news sources: Make sure you get your news from reliable sources that you trust. This will help ensure that you receive accurate information.
Set up notifications about recent events. Many news agencies offer to send out alerts about the latest events via email or text messages. This can be a great way to stay up to date on the latest developments, even if you're on the go.
Talk to knowledgeable people: if you know someone who works in a relevant field (such as politics, disaster management, etc.), they can be an excellent source of information.
Keep an eye on social media: In today's world, social media is often one of the first places where the latest news appears. But be careful — not everything you read on social media is true! Before you believe it, try to check the information from several sources.
In conclusion, it is important to keep abreast of current events nowadays. Breaking news releases can provide us with the information we need to make decisions that affect our lives and the lives of the people around us. There are so many breaking news sources available today that staying up to date with the latest developments from a wide variety of sources has never been easier.
Task. You are going to give a talk about Breaking News. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (12-15 sentences).
R
emember to say:
if it is important to keep up to date with current events. Why; why not;
how to stay informed in today's rapidly changing digital world;
what your attitude to breaking news is;
if it is easy to be misinformed.
You have to talk continuously.

Shopping
It is a well-known fact that shopping plays an important role in our life. When we want to buy something, we go to a shop. There are many kinds of shops in every town or city: food supermarkets, department stores, clothing and furniture stores, shopping centers and others. Most people like to do the shopping at big department stores, supermarkets and shopping centres. They sell various goods under one roof and this is very convenient. We can buy everything we like there: ready-made clothes, fabrics, shoes, sports goods, toys, electric appliances, cosmetics, linen, cameras, records, etc.
In a food supermarket we can also buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, macaroni, flour, cereals, tea. Another shop we frequently go to is the greengrocery, which is stocked with cabbage, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, etc. If it is a self-service shop, we go from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket what we wish to buy. Then we take a basket to the check-counter, where the prices of the purchases are added up. We pay money to the cashier and he gives us back the change. Thanks to the development of the Internet, some people prefer to shop online.
If people want to be responsible shoppers, they should keep in mind some rules. First of all, it is important to spend money rationally - make a shopping list to avoid unnecessary purchases. Secondly, if people are queuing up at the cash desk they need to wait for their turn. Last but not least, check money before and after paying. Knowing the rules helps to get real bargains.
My attitude to shopping is definitely positive. I go shopping alone twice a week. I usually buy dairy products, bread and vegetables. I know that some people hate shopping. The thing is that they don’t want to spend their time.
In conclusion, I’d like to say that nowadays people cannot live without shopping but they should be ethical, green and use good money sense.
Task 3. You are going to give a talk about Shopping. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences).
Remember to say:
what kinds of shops you know;
where most people prefer buying things, why;
if there are some rules for doing shopping;
what your attitude to shopping is.
You have to talk continuously.

Global problems: how to solve them
Humanity has a lot of problems. Most of them are local and do not affect the global community but there are a few global issues. A global issue is an issue that affects every country in the world. People can clearly define them, however they are still not solved. One of the greatest challenges of our time is solving global problems.
The United Nations is the organization that defines these problems and takes measures to solve them. The United Nations is an example of cooperation of the world-leading countries. They want to make our world a better place.
So, what global issues do they solve? First, it is global warming. Our industrial activity causes a rise in the average temperature. It means that an average summer or winter day nowadays is warmer than it was a hundred years ago. Global warming is dangerous because it can cause ice melting. Second, it is human impact on the environment. In some cities air pollution reached the point where it is dangerous for human health. Third, overpopulation. The population of our planet is 7.8 billion now, which is almost 8 times as much as it was two hundred years ago. It will keep growing, and the planet might just not be able to sustain that many inhabitants in the future. Overpopulation causes multiple problems including poverty.
These are the most discussed global problems nowadays. Their list might increase but all the problems are being worked on. Some countries decided to switch to alternative energy sources in the near future. Most countries at least recognize the problems.
In conclusion, I would like to say that not only the governments are responsible for our planet, but every single human as well. If we want to make the world a better place, we should realize that even small actions affect it.
Task. You are going to give a talk about Global problems. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences).
Remember to say:
if it is necessary to solve global problems; why;
what the United Nations organization is;
what the most serious global problems are;
what your attitude to the problem is.
You have to talk continuously.

Still a Mystery
Our life is full of mystery. There are a lot of intriguing aspects of our life. People make discoveries, explore and develop the world. But people still don't know everything about space, aliens, and life on other planets. One of the strangest mysteries is UFOs, flying saucers, alien bodies, strange footprints and a bizarre cluster of floating lights. Like many people, I still doubt the existence of UFOs and aliens.
Moreover, our planet is full of strange and mystical creatures and events. The Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, the Bermuda Triangle, the Naga fireballs, the Woodland in Great Britain and others do not leave humanity alone.
A few words about dinosaurs. Scientists have always wondered if it is possible to bring them back to life. Paleontologists have already conducted all the necessary studies of dinosaur DNA. In addition, most scientists believe that birds are distant relatives of dinosaurs. Others believe that they were the ancestors of elephants. But no one has a definite answer.
After all, the world is full of mysteries. But you can choose whether to believe facts or legends.
To sum up, we can say that despite all the frightening mysteries of our planet, we cannot live without secrets because they make our lives exciting.
Task. You are going to give a talk about World mysteries. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences).
Remember to say:
if the world is still a mystery; why;
what the most mystical creatures and events are;
if it is true to recreate dinosaurs;
what your attitude to mystery is.
You have to talk continuously.

Learning foreign languages
There are many languages on Earth. Different peoples speak numerous languages. Thus, we need to learn foreign languages in order to understand each other and find common ground with foreigners.
It is impossible to imagine traveling without communicating with citizens of other countries. As a result, in order to feel comfortable abroad, you need to know at least basic expressions.
Another reason is the opportunity to learn more, read news from original resources and keep up to date with current events in the world. For these reasons, everyone should devote time to learning foreign languages.
Everyone starts learning a foreign language at school. Gradually, starting with simple topics and words, students get used to the foreign language. Thus, they begin to understand another language.
Currently, English is the most popular and widely studied language. French and German are competing in second place.
As for me, I have been learning English for 7 years. I am interested in English and I realize that it will help me in the future.
Fortunately, modern technology offers great opportunities for language learning. The Internet provides a lot of opportunities to improve your language proficiency. Students can watch original movies, chat with foreigners in international dating chats, attend online classes, etc.
To sum up, I would say that learning foreign languages is very important. Not only it is a great way to spend time and relax, but it also can easily help become successful and make a good career.
Task. You are going to give a talk about Learning foreign languages. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences).

if it is necessary to learn foreign languages; why;

Appearance and Character
Does a person's appearance play a role for you? Or do you still think that you can't judge a book by its cover? Are there any character traits that you cannot tolerate? What character traits of a person do you like the most?
When we talk about a person's face, legs, and figure, we're talking about their appearance. What shape can a face be? There are three dominant face shapes – square, round and oval. The oval is considered the most attractive type. A person can be well-fed, thin, fat, and also of average weight.
When we talk about a person's character, their appearance always fades into the background. Why? Because no matter how beautiful a person is on the outside, his character is the main indicator of true beauty. Frankly speaking, no one likes a greedy, tactless, rude and malicious person. It's quite another thing to communicate with a sweet, friendly, generous and kind–hearted person.
Personally, I am a teenager with a strong character. I can be both cheerful and open, as well as thoughtful and secretive. This suggests that my mood is constantly changing, but still the positive traits are taking over. Speaking of my appearance, I am very elegant. My friends say that my charm is irresistible. But I don't really focus on external beauty. Inner beauty is much more important.
T

Remember to say:
if a person’s appearance plays a big role; why;
what more important is: appearance or character; why;
what your attitude to the topic is.
