Schools in Great Britain

In Great Britain children start going to school when they are five. There are 6 types of schools in Great Britain. They are: infant schools, primary schools, grammar schools, modern schools, comprehensive schools and private schools. In infant schools children don’t have real classes. They learn numbers and letters. When the children are seven they go to junior school. They have classes, read and write, do mathematics. Then they go to secondary school. At secondary school pupils study English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Art, Music, Foreign languages and Physical Education. Pupils don’t study foreign languages at modern school. In grammar school pupils study languages, science and other subjects. After grammar school pupils can enter the university. In comprehensive school pupils study all subjects. Pupils go there from the age of 11. At private schools boys and girls do not study together. The sons and daughters of the aristocracy go to these schools.
