The Russian political system has a long history.
Ut had changer several times since the 19th century.
First it was an absolute monarchy, then after the February Revolution it became a bourgeois republic with the provisional government at the head. After the great October Revolution it became a Soviet Republic with the dictatorship of the proletariat, and then Russia was proclaimed a Federative Republic (in fact communist party ruled the country, the power was monopolized in the hands of the leaders of the party).Things changed after Perestroika. We began to build a new State – Federative democratic lagan Republic with the President at the head.
But our state is in the process of formation now.
We are trying to build a legal democratic state.

    2. Let us read some facts about the «Constitution in the USA. Раздаются листочки с текстом. Чтение, понимание. Понимание контролируется вопросами.
Americans are very proud of their Constitution. It was written
more than 200 years ago and it is still working! But the people
of the United States can change the Constitution. Changes in
the Constitution are called amendments. There are 26 amendments
to the Constitution. The first ten amendments are called the Bill
of Rights. They were made in 1791. The Bill of Rights guarantees
to people of the USA such important rights and freedoms as freedom
of press, freedom of religion, the right to go to court, have a lawyer,
and some others. Soon after the Civil War (1861- 1865) there
were three important amendments. The 13th amendment ended
slavery, the 14th amendment made all Black citizens of
the United States, the 15th amendment gave Blacks the right to
vote (long ago, only white men who were over 21 years of age
and owned property could vote in the United States). In 1920,
the 19th amendment gave women the right to vote. In 1971, the
26th amendment gave people 18 years old and older the right to
    vote.
    Answer my questions:
    1) When was the last American Constitution written?
    2) How many amendments are there to the Constitution?
    3) What can you say about the Bill of Rights?
    4) What were the other amendments?
