Викторины на уроках и во внеурочной деятельности

Разнообразные викторины можно использовать на уроках английского языка, а так же во внеурочной деятельности, для повышения интереса обучающихся к изучению английского языка, для расширения и углубления знаний по предмету, а так же для обобщения и контроля знаний. Это может быть часть урока, отдельный урок или внеклассное мероприятие. Формат проведения может быть выбран педагогом по своему усмотрению: "Своя игра", "Звёздный час", "Что? Где? Когда?", "Брейн - ринг" и т.д. Можно предложить обучающимся разработать тематическую викторину самостоятельно, как отдельный проект.

В Интернете существует множество различных сайтов, предлагающих викторины как по лексике и грамматике, так и по страноведению. Вот некоторые из них:

• http://www.bbc.co.uk - в разделе Learning English есть викторины с использованием текстов для чтения и аудио - фрагментов.

• http://www.britishcouncil.org/kids.html - можно найти викторины и для начинающих изучать английский язык.

• http://www.trivanty.com - онлайн конструктор игр и викторин, является игровой платформой, которая позволяет писать, запускать и проводить викторины в классе.

Предлагаю вопросы, которые я использую для составления викторин.

English-speaking countries:

• What is the official name of the main country of the English language? (The United Kingdom of great Britain and Northern Ireland)

• What parts does the UK consists of? (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland)

• Who is the Prime Minister of the GB today? (Boris Johnson)

• Where is the residence of the British Prime Minister? (10 Downing Street )

• This country is the smallest continent. (Australia)

• This country is washed by the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. (The USA)

• This country is an island state in the north-west of Europe. (The UK)

• This country is in North America and it borders with the USA. (Canada)

• This country is sometimes called "The World’s Biggest Farm". (New Zealand)

• Which city is the capital of the United States of America? (Washington, DC)

• Which city is the capital of Canada? (Ottawa)

• What is the capital of Scotland? (Edinburgh)

• What is the capital of Wales? (Cardiff)

• What is the capital of Northern Ireland? (Belfast)

• Which river does London stand on? (The Thames)

• The capital of New Zealand was named after this famous British. (The Duke of Wellington)

• What are the major cities in the UK? (Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester)

• What countries does the US border? (Canada, Mexico, Russia (a sea border))

• These two languages are spoken in Canada. (English and French)

• Native people of Australia and New Zealand speak this language. (Maori)

• What colours are represented on the Union Jack, the UK flag? (White, red and blue)

• What can you see in the flag of Canada? (A maple leaf )

• On the coat-of-arms of the UK you can see a lion and a unicorn. Which countries do they symbolize? (England and Scotland)

English colonies:

• This English colony is one of the smallest and the only one in Europe. But its strategic importance can hardly be overestimated. (Gibraltar)

• This colony, taken from the French in fierce battles, was the main acquisition of the British as a result of the Seven Years War. (Canada)

• On a tip from Napoleon, Paul I was going to take this important colony from England. Fortunately for the British, he did not have time to do this. (India)

• In this American city in September 1774, the 1st Continental Congress was held, at which George Washington spoke in favor of the armed struggle of 13 colonies against England. (Philadelphia)

• In 1863 this American president signed the Emancipation Proclamation, the document that made all the slaves free. (President Abraham Lincoln)

• This monarch is known for saying "I know I have a body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a King". (Queen Elizabeth I)
  He was a very important monarch. Under his reign Britain became independent of the Roman Catholic Church, it got richer and more powerful. (King Henry VIII)

Give Russian equivalents:

• East or West home is best. (В гостях хорошо, а дома лучше.)

• As clear as day. (Ясно, как день.)

• Better late than never. (Лучше поздно, чем никогда.)

• Live and learn! (Век живи – век учись!)

• Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today. (Никогда не откладывай на завтра то, что можно сделать сегодня.)

• An apple a day keeps a doctor away. (Яблоко в день сохраняет здоровье.)

• My home is my castle. (Мой дом – моя крепость.)

• Business before pleasure. (Делу время, потехе час.)

• A friend in need is a friend indeed. (Друг познается в беде.)

My native region:

• Which river does Arkhangelsk stand on? (the Northern Dvina)

• Name the three seas that wash the coast of the Arkhangelsk region. (the White Sea, the Barents Sea, The Karskoe Sea)

• What is the trade of the Pomors? (they fish)

• The main character of his books is Senya Malina. (Stepan Pisakhov)

• What is the name of the northern gingerbread? (kozulya)

• This craft is passed down from generation to generation in the city of Kargopol,. (Making a clay toy).

• What is a “sharkunok”? (beanbag)
